There are some people that really shouldn't have pets or even reproduce in this world.

On the way to work yesterday the wife and I stopped by the local trash drop off location to drop off our house trash.

I walked into the fenced compound and was throwing my trash in the large bin when I heard a dog whimper/yelp. Keep in mine this is a rural site and there is trash all around the bins all the time.

I was shocked to see a medium sized dog that had been literally stuffed into one of those clear drawers you have in your refrigerator (the one where you put your produce). He had obviously been hit by a car and was totally paralyzed from the neck down. Poor thing sounded like he yelped to get my attention as to say (he buddy can you help me). He could breathe and the only thing he could move was his eyes. That really got my blood boiling. He looked as if he had been there all night. Poor thing couldn't even raise his head or pull his tongue back into his mouth.

Pardon my language but who in the hell would even think of just doing that do a dog and if they would do that to a dog how the hell are they raising their kids.

I can't stand to see an animal suffer so I went to my vehicle and procured my pistol and put the poor thing down.

The dog may have been unconscious at the time and the person may have thought it was dead. There's no telling. But you are right, some people should never be allowed to have a pet if they cannot or will not control it.

I agree that there are just people outhere who are very ignorant. I watched a video today of the La Grange police office shooting a dog the captured with a neck pole. The dog couldnt even do anything and from the video the dog was very aggresive at all twords anyone. Just mearly scared. I hate seeing animals mistreated.

I'm with you, revoke their breeding permit. Thankfully you came along and were prepared/willing to do the right thing. My condolences that it was necessary and you got stuck with the duty.

I would have felt the same way that you did Al. Sounds like someone hit the poor dog and didn't have enough money to take it to a veterinarian to have it euthanized so they dumped it there. Sorry that you were the one to encounter it first.

Very sad story:(.

I have four dogs, all rescues. My Chocolate lab, from the SPCA, had been badly abused. Sadie is a pure Lab with scars on her left cheek and under her chin. In the evening, I'd call her to come and get some pets. Sadie would run into the bedroom and take refuge under the bed and just shake with fear. It took about two years of just lying down on the floor next to her, talk to her, reach under the bed and pet her. I did not pull her out, just reached under and petted her; this just flat broke my heart. I'd like to find the guy who did this to my Sadie. She has been with us for ten great years now, and what a joy she is!

I have come to believe that you can tell a great deal about someone based on how the treat their critters. When I call my four girls, they all come, even the Husky, they come to me because they want to me with me. We all enjoy each other's company a great deal. To hear someone brag that their dog comes out of fear, is someone I will have little respect for.

I think you did that poor dog a great service. In that the animal was in a bin like you described, leads me to think that this was more likely a home abuse event and not a random road event. Just the thought of that poor dog in a trash bin waiting to die is painful to me.

Rest In Peace little friend.

As I get older I'm beginning to see there's two types of people in this world - those who cause problems and those who have to fix them.

People who hurt children and animals are the lowest of the low with those who hurt kids at the bottom.

I'm glad you were there to do the right thing.

Animal cruelty, running over turtles and shooting to maim game....puts me in another zone. Sometimes it is just stupidity and other times it is just evil.

A couple years ago I ran across a kid joyfully stabbing bluegill at a park. Last week at scout camp one of the kids got bumped during a water fight, he went into a rage...I'm going to kill you! I said hey, hey come here, the kid turned around, our eyes met.....it was the kid from the park.

There was no life in those eyes.

Sir,

Am so glad you were there to help the poor dog out of its suffering. :(

Indeed, there are some pretty sick, oxagen sucking thieves out there that need to meet the same end as this poor animal.

Thank goodness you were there, at the right time Sir.
