Why Hillary Will Be On Obama's Ticket In 2012

Yes, Hillary Clinton will run for office again and she'll do it with President Obama.

While the country digests yesterday’s primaries, the White House political machine is undoubtedly working overtime on a more distant challenge – how to get President Obama reelected in 2012.

Here’s a prediction: the Obama administration will bounce Joe Biden off the 2012 ticket, and invite Hillary Clinton to run in his stead.

The move will aim to bolster Obama’s standing and provide some excitement among core Democrats – something that Biden fails to provide. Hillary will agree, because just four years later she will be superbly positioned to run for president – ever the rainbow on her personal horizon.

At present, her polls are high, with 58% of voters viewing her at least somewhat favorably.

Wistful Dems who wonder these days what could have been will tout her hard work and pragmatic diplomacy as she chases one impossible Obama pipe dream after another to all corners of the globe.

Certain wishful Dems are hoping she will challenge Obama in a primary. I don’t think so. As Ted Kennedy found when he tried to pick off Jimmy Carter in 1980, even an unpopular incumbent is still an incumbent.

If the White House political team brings Clinton on board over the next year, they can remove whatever threat exists from that quarter. Meanwhile, Hillary can bide her time and husband her resources, eventually running against Obama’s legacy.

She will have better answers on health care, a subject she has studiously avoided discussing, and could adopt her husband’s centrist approach to trade and taxes to win over independents.

Though she will be 69 years old in 2016, she is healthy and will run on experience. John McCain was 72 on election day; his age became an issue only after carefully orchestrated pieces on melanoma-related deaths in The New York Times raised concerns, and because he chose a running mate considered by many too inexperienced to step in if necessary. (Those worried folks voted instead for a candidate with no management background and a gossamer-thin resume, but that’s another story.)

The White House political apparatchiks are not stupid; they know the president is in trouble. The recent poll, showing that Americans are more disgusted with Obama’s handling of the Gulf oil disaster than they were by Bush’s management of the Katrina aftermath, says it all.

No sane person can possibly blame the president for a series of cataclysmically poor decisions that resulted in the explosion aboard the Deepwater Horizon. Instead, those mad that he can’t protect brown pelicans are fed up with a whole host of issues: ongoing job losses, political chicanery in the White House, rising federal debts, cuts in local public services and above all, perhaps, profound disappointment that this president ends up sounding and looking no better and no worse than those who have gone before him.

Between now and the next presidential election, the job picture is unlikely to get much brighter. States are cutting workers to balance their budgets, while new-found fiscal discipline among those facing reelection has put a lid on what Congress will spend to counter local layoffs.

Small businesses are still struggling to find credit, and are nervous about the impact of the new health care bill.

Corporate hiring is extremely slow, in part because industry is still wary of the sluggish recovery, and of our president.

The repeated assaults on banks, insurers, oil companies, coal miners and anyone succeeding in making money has cast a pall over the private sector. The well documented ramping up of agencies charged with investigating and regulating business has managements distracted.

Even if the recovery continues to putter along, job creation is likely to disappoint. Also, the debt and deficit numbers will not improve. By November 2012, voters will be looking for answers.

Obama will certainly run again, but his ticket will need a change-up. Joe Biden brought the aura of experience to the 2008 ticket. His subsequent series of gaffes has since undermined his stature. In any case his appeal was never very broad. He was a low-risk non-combatant who fit Hollywood’s image of a senior statesman.

Rahm Emanuel will call Biden in for a nice chat and point out the many advantages of retirement—maybe even offer him an unpaid job with some U.S. agency.

To excite those liberals disappointed that Obama has not tackled many of their core concerns—chiefly cap-and-trade and immigration – the president will need a fresh start. Hillary Clinton could provide the juice he needs.

It doesn't really matter, the Kenyan will not be in office another term, even the stupid Americans now realize he's a liar and has gone back on just about every issue he ran on.

Now there a gentleman in South Carolina that in my opinion should run for office of the President of the United States and give up his democratic (socialist) US Senate run..... I'm sure that once the Kenyan hears about this individual he'll offer him White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel's job!

Surprise South Carolina Democratic Senate Nominee Refuses to Step Aside

The surprise South Carolina Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate has turned down a request from the state party boss to step down.

Alvin Greene, a relative unknown, shocked Democrats in the Palmetto State on Tuesday night by winning the chance to face Sen. Jim DeMint, a Republican, this fall with a commanding victory over state lawmaker Vick Rawl in the Democratic primary.

South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Carol Fowler on Wednesday asked Greene to withdraw from the race for U.S. Senate because of recently revealed court records which show the 32-year-old unemployed veteran was arrested last November in Columbia, S.C., for allegedly showing obscene photos to a college student.

However, Greene told Fox News he has no intention of ending his campaign.

"The Democratic Party has chosen their nominee with over 60 percent, and we have to stand behind their choice," Greene said during a telephone interview from his home in Manning, S.C. "We need to be about the issues. We need to be pro-South Carolina, not anti-Greene."
Fowler pressed Greene in a statement released earlier Wednesday to get out of the race.

"Today, I spoke with Alvin Greene, the presumptive Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate, and asked him to withdraw from the race," Fowler said. "I did not do this lightly, as I believe strongly that the Democratic voters of this state have the right to select our nominee. But this new information about Mr. Greene would certainly have affected the decisions of many of those voters."

Other staffers at the state party are baffled at Greene's win.

"As far as we know he has done no campaigning," state party spokesperson Keiana Page said. "We have no idea how he won."

Greene told Fox News he has never run for public office before, has no staffers and ran the campaign entirely on his own.

Greene is also being shunned by national Democrats, telling Fox News that neither the Democratic National Committee nor the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee have contacted him in the wake of his big win.

National party officials didn't return calls Wednesday evening seeking comment for this story.

Court records indicate that last November, Greene allegedly showed graphic photos to a woman at the University of South Carolina and tried to follow her to her dorm room. He was charged with "disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity."

When asked about the allegations, Greene said, "I have no comment on that other, that negative story ... I want this to be about the issues."

On the issues, Greene says his platform will be about employment. "I want to put South Carolina back to work, I know about being unemployed."

Greene also says he is a supporter of the Democrats' national health care agenda and the economic stimulus packages.

But as for how he would have voted on TARP, or the Troubled Asset Relief Program, Greene was undecided. "TARP? What's that?" he asked.

After a moment he added, "I'll have to look into that and get back to you."
Greene says he wants foreign policy to be a part of his candidacy -- as a specialist in the Army, he was stationed in Korea for a year.

"I think there should be one Korea under a democracy, done peacefully," he said.

Greene said that could best be accomplished by "diplomatic efforts."

"It would be good for the economy of the nation and South Carolina and our allies," he said.

When asked what he thought of the latest events surrounding Iran and the United Nations, Greene seemed to stumble.

"I think how we're going about, what we're doing is OK, I think ... Look, I have someone beeping on the other line, I have to move on ... I'm exhausted," he said.

Greene also said he was eager to square off with Sen. DeMint in a debate, preferably in September.

I look forward to seeing what else he knows about in the coming days.

Gender doesn't matter to me, but it does to magazines like that and their purveyors. I work for a female two-star and a female O6. They're qualified, they do the job and they're competent leaders, and have a good technical foundation. HC has none of these quals. IMO HC has done nothing except be someone's spouse. She's not qualified for what she's doing now.

Bad bad bad rumor.

Please! Don't do that while I'm enjoying my 1.05 quart Diet Pepsi™! :D I'd forgotten about that. She's got more combat time than the "SEAL" I used to work with (blisterhead fake).

Big "if", Broadsword2004. The cow's writing her resume, punching her tickets, building up international support (esp in China), and she's waiting like a cat. Also, having the experience or qualification to be SECDEF is not a requirement.

I'm not that optimistic about 2012.
