Woody Allen has a strange take on the democracy that allowed him to become rich and famous.

The "Scoop" director said it would be a cool idea for President Barack Obama to be dictator for for a few years.

Why?

So he could get things done without all the hassle of opposing views getting in the way.

In an interview published by Spanish language newspaper La Vanguardia (that we translated), Allen says “I am pleased with Obama. I think he’s brilliant. The Republican Party should get out of his way and stop trying to hurt him.”

But wait - there's more!

The director said "it would be good…if he could be a dictator for a few years because he could do a lot of good things quickly."

Of course, Allen has a famously strange relationship with reality. The director took nude photos of his lover Mia Farrow's teen-age adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn, and then ended up marrying her after separating from Farrow.

Farrow also said he molested their seven-year-old adopted daugther, Dylan. A judge refused to act on the charges, but called his relationship with Soon-Yi "grossly inappropriate."

Perhaps that judge has an opinion on Allen's "dictator" comments?

Never found anything woody allen did as of any value, IMHO.

With millions, woody is eccentric. Without millions, woody is simply insane.

As Richard says, "and so it goes".

Well, once upon a time, I found humor in his movie "Bananas" - especially if you ever had a "G band" composed of IRR Army guys pulled back in for two weeks of reserve training, after Viet Nam.

The part at 7:05 where he orders food for the G's was my fav!

Mike's back! It is summer vacation. No kids after tonight. Graduation on Thursday morning. Done on Friday. Room clean, books inventoried, grades ready to turn in by tomorrow a.m. I retire at the end of next year. I can do a year standing on my head! Life is good. Mike is BACK!

I doubt Mr. Allen is alone in his feelings. Methinks there are millions of "left-thinking" Americans who are wishing the same thing. Yet, they fear the right! Amazing.

The irony of the left wishing that Obama be granted dictitorial power only a year and half after hyperventilating over a President they really thought was trying to be one. When loons like that speak one can only laugh. Getting upset over it is like getting made a a two year old for making a mess in their drawers. They just can't help themselves.

IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS HOW OBAMA IS ALREADY RUNNING THINGS AND SWEARS THROUGH HIS TRANSPARENCY. I MUST BE CONFUSED BECAUSE I THOUGHT MY HAIR WAS TRANSPARENT(BALD), BUT YOU CAN'T SEE INTO THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION WITHOUT A WARRANT AND WIRETAP. THIS POTUS IS MAKING CASTRO AND CHAVEZ JEALOUS.

A blank screen and a empty suit what will it be tomorrow.

Woody wants Obama to be dictator, just for a few years....

The notorious and formerly funny movie director Woody Allen is apparently frustrated with the cumbersome operations of American democracy too.

The one-time-father-now-husband-of-his-daughter tells the Spanish-language magazine La Vanguardia that the United States' Democratic Smoker-in-Chief could accomplish a whole lot more from his White House if he didn't have so many disorderly, annoying people objecting, distracting and criticizing him all the time.

Such social messiness has been known to occur in functioning democracies, even cinematic ones, although less often on celebrity-strewn movie sets under the direction of a dictatorial director.

"It would be good...if (Obama) could be dictator for a few years because he could do a lot of good things quickly," Allen is quoted as saying.

Allen is also said to have said:

I am pleased with Obama. I think he is brilliant. The Republican Party should get out of his way and stop trying to hurt him.

With healthcare and the economy now fully fixed, no doubt one area in urgent need of sweeping Obama-style reforms would be targeting movie reviewers
who write negatively about Hollywood. Or about its politician favorites.

They play dress up and "make believe" for a living. They should do that and nothing else. It does not earn them the right to hold forth on their political/medical/social beliefs. . . .In other words, actors and entertainers should be deprived of their constitutional rights simply because you don't agree with their views.

And somehow, they're the problem.

I didn't say they should be deprived of their constitutional rights, I just personally would like them to shut up.

I'd be happy if people would just stop listening to them!

The problem is not that they talk.
The problem is that people listen.

Yea I get that. But there's an ass-hat arrogance there that makes them go on talk shows and tell everyone how to live their lives that makes me a little crazy. But yes, if the American public didn't eat this crap up then it wouldn't be a problem.

Mao's "Little Red Book" somewhere around page 3 - "a people have the government they deserve". (Your translation may vary a bit on the exact words.)

I dunno, I really like what woody allen had to say. It shows the idiot side of the actors real well. IMO he's right up there with sean penn, friggin moron. Let him keep talking...

I'm hardly surprised by anything any of those Hollywood rejects have to say, but I am surprised that a Jew wouldn't know better than to advocate any sort of dictatorship. I'd think that history would have taught him that lesson already, but I guess not.

This is just another example of how blinded some people have become to the cult of personality surrounding our current President. It's like some people think he's the new Jesus or something.
