Despite the UK's noble efforts to guarantee public safety by means of regulating civilian ownership of firearms through the enactment of the 1968, 1988, 1994 and 1997 Firearms (Amendment) Acts and then the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (CJA), where certain types of knife were banned under the Restriction of Offensive Weapons Act 1959.....Just goes to show you that where there is a will, there is a way!

Maybe if MP Timms or a bystander had been packing some heat he would have only received only one wound instead of two and could saved the Tax Payers the expense of incarceration and court cost.

LONDON (AP) — A 21-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder after a British lawmaker was stabbed during a weekly meeting with his constituents.

London police said Saturday the woman also faces two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.

Stephen Timms, a lawmaker who represents the London constituency of East Ham, was attacked Friday afternoon. The Royal London Hospital says he underwent surgery on his wounds, and would be released in the next few days.

The 54-year-old Timms was the financial secretary to the treasury in former Prime Minister Gordon Brown's government. A member of the Labour Party, he has represented East Ham since 1994.
