And so it goes...

The Inches That Matter

Report from Marja, Afghanistan, where Marines of K-3/6 face stiff resistance from Taliban fighters, including a rarity, a trained marksman.

Don't think it was a Lee-Enfield doing the shooting.

Wished they had a better shot of the Lee-Enfield they pulled out of the plastic. Had an odd look to it. Could have been leather or copper wire on the stock.

A Dragon or two would have been nice.

There are quite a few No. 1 MkIII Enfields from Ishapore (India) that had wire wrapped stocks. If I remember correctly, the wire wrapping was to reinforce the stock for grenade use.

True but that wire was on the stock between the sling swivel and piling swivel.

Look at the bolt and area stock area to the left of the receiver. Odd lashup. Maybe a local copy that was modified.

I believe that it is a stock repair technique.

Gotta love it....as soon as his fellow Marines knew he was OK...the wounded Marine started getting his balls busted.
