USAF has puzzled over the wings to award UAV pilots. Hard feelings, of course, come from traditional aviators who actually get into airplanes and feel this new breed of warrior who only sit and fight don't deserve to wear wings. So, I have designed UAV wings for the chairborne.
(Full disclosure: I was awarded USAF Aircrew wings in 1968 because I actually worked in airplanes.)

There's actually wings for these guys. See the attachment.
The thing I don't understand is pilots are being offered Aviation Career Incentive Pay (up to $840/mo) and the enlisted operators get Enlisted Flier Incentive Pay (up to $400/mo). Heck, as a HALO jump master, I got less than $200/mo. If you can get the big bucks and then walk across the street to the shopette, no high altitude sickness, no scary night stuff, no bad guys trying to put holes through your cuerpo, why not?
Well, because if war has no price, then war will be too easy. If there's no heroes, then there's no cowards. There are things that are worth dying for. For freedom to be worth something, then there must be a price.
I don't like this remote control warfare stuff.

Believing in equally honoring all who serve, here is the airborne version for all those former hard chargers who now sharpen pencils and carry stuff over at the Pentagon.

The actual wings have a curious art deco look for a high tech/futuristic job.
