Richard
That is fast, though he reminds me of Sheriff Buford T. Justice? ;)
Makes you think of the question from "The Shootist"
Great video. I had a badge just like that...when I was 7 and my front yard was swarming with commanche. he had an interesting rig.
That boy is quick... :eek::eek:

Impressive except, I've seen Special Forces soldiers shoot almost as fast (.24 tenths of a second) and shoot 5 steel targets in 1.2 seconds at targets spread out at distances ranging from 5-15 meters, wearing a full kit of combat gear (body armor, helmet, & 30 lbs of ammo) using only iron sights.
And you wonder why terrorists run from Special Forces soldiers? :D
Toy/game shooting is just that, game shooting.:munchin
From his web site:
Bob's brother, CW4 Philip G. Munden, U.S. Army, Aviation (retired), holds 5 world records he set as a member of the U.S. Army's Golden Knights sky-diving team. Individually, Phil holds a parachuting record for making 43 consecutive, dead-center landings at night on a 10 cm (3.9") disk.

I'm very impressed. I also know how the balloons are broken when using BP blanks. The kind of accuracy required to put bad guys in the ground doesn't have much to do with it. (But I'm still very impressed!)

Phoebe Ann Mosey (aka: Annie Oakley) and Bill Cody used back-power loads with wad and shoot. She often used a Marlin lever 410 gauge smooth bore. Could not miss from 30 ft..,, also didn't put holes in the roof of the circus tent..
It's interesting to see he used a holster bullet shield in some shots.
Also, He starts from a cocked position, then palms the second shot..
(But I'm still very impressed!) so am I...

Here is Shawn Carlock, a gunsmith who makes some of the parts I use on my rifles, a national rifle champion, long range rifle hunter and pistol shooter.
He is testing out "video capable sunglasses"!

That was pretty impressive but consider this: William Hickock, Jesse James, Virgil Earp, and Morgan Earp - all shot from behind.
Billy the Kid? Ambushed in a dark room by a waiting assailant.
Be as bad as you wanna be. :D
Bill Hickok actually did have a classic style showdown I believe, against David Tutt, only not as depicted in the movies. It was at a longer range and I beileve the report of this incident showed David Tutt he was standing profile rather than squared up as commonly portrayed in the movies.
Very cool video. If you can stand all of the chit-chat, the shots he does on "Impossible Shots" on the outdoor channel are also very impressive.
To the other video and Team Sergeant's example can you really learn to shoot that fast with practice or is it more instinctive fire?

I'm obviously not the Team Sergeant. However, based on my training and experience you HAVE to see the front sight to do what the Team Sergeant is describing. It might be for a nanosecond but your still seeing it.
Just my .02 cents.

Bob Munden is a real nice guy and a helluva shot. However it's a sport and not a combat skill and he realizes that. he's also a great gunsmith for single action revolvers. It's more silver screen stuff than historical.
Western gunfighters were called man-killers back in the day. There were hardly any face off gunfights. Lots of back shooting and ambushes. Plenty of drunken shoots in saloons. Wild Bills shootout with Tut was probably from about 75 -100 feet. Bill always said in a fight you have to "Take your time in a hurry.";)

That dude is crazy fast, but no incoming rounds, no battle rattle, etc like all before said. Still fast, but I wonder if he can do it under pressure.
I don't recall the guy's name, but I remember seeing a video of a guy shooting steel targets with a revolver, reloading it (with a speedloader) and continuing to plink plates just as fast as others there firing hi-cap autos.
A tad OT, but this guy's statement about duels was only partially true.
Aaron Burr challenged Alexander Hamilton to a duel and killed him in 1804 and Andrew Jackson killed a man in a duel in 1806. There were many more people killed in duels throughout US history. One of the most interesting ones was the duel between the 2 Confederate BG's Marmaduke and Walker.
That was a seriously manly way to settle scores. At least going into it you had the comfort knowing it was going to be settled and done with afterward one way or another. ;)

Was just wondering about that 5 steel target string? Weapon unholstered/low ready or drawn from holster?
Just as a comparison, the fastest strings for the "Smoke and Hope" ( 4 steel plates, 1 stop plate, 7-14 yards ) stage at the 2009 Steel Challenge for Open class ( comped/optics) pistols were c. 1.8-1.9 seconds. The best I have shot that is 3.01 seconds, but that was with a Production class Glock 17.

Tuukka,
This is like comparing "apples and oranges", optics, comped, and most likely very ammo moving as fast as airsoft pellets.;) Not the same thing. TS

I agree and that is why I specifically mentioned the weapon details ;), that if the worlds fastest sport pistol shooters can only do that fast, from which starting position could you clean 5 steel targets faster with a standard service pistol?
Even with 5 steel targets spaced evenly and side by side at close range, pistol aimed at the first target you'd need to do .3 sec splits on the plates to get to 1.2 seconds.
And no, the loads are usually quite hot, even in Open ( to get the best pressure to utilize the comps well )

I liked the "Three Kittens" drill. I'll have to try it out next time the oppurtunity presents itself.
You want to be like that guy at the end of the range by himself repeatedly clearing malfunctions with only his weak hand, then firing two to the chest, one to the head. Not fun training, good training.
