I know it is not PC, but I have no problem with the goberment recovering these debts.

A focus on Individual responsibility is something this country needs. I am tired of everyone passing the buck to future generations.... or those that actually pay their bills, taxes, and payback their debts.

If anything, the government should reward the citizens that DO fulfill their obligations... where is my earned income credit? Grants and assistance that isn't paid back ? waved interest and lowered payments with a forced short sale or renogotiated principle on my mortgage? debit card for food for my family? 1.5 years of free money (unemployment) to suppliment my income during this downtown in the economy? forgiven small business loans of which I have taken out and am paying hundreds of thousands of dollars? How about the $8000 payment that I could use as principle on my mortgage instead of giving it away to people for a NEW purchase of a house that they can't afford?
and the list goes on and on...............................:D

There is no God given right to retire, take a break, live without stress or difficulty in the constitution. Unless someone is working their A$$es off, I don't want to hear that they should be allowed to force someone else pay for their obligations.

I don't either but was commenting on the way it was done.

When you signed up you should have been told "You owe a debt to the government and until it's repaid your benifits will be reduced such and such percent."

With this just coming out 2 years after the bill I wonder how long we'll have stuff jumping out of the health care bill :eek: ?

Based upon the graphic in the original piece, it seems like the measure is calibrated to hit tax scofflaws whom might be a less sympathetic group.

FWIW, I agree with QP Pete that it seems a bit shady given the current ruling party's emphasis on "open" government <<LINK1 (http://www.democrats.org/a/national/american_democracy/honest_government/)>> and <<LINK2 (http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/TransparencyandOpenGovernment/)>>.
