Eotech 512

Ok I need a little help, I purchased an Eotech 517 (my first Eotech), and mounted it directly to my Mfourgery as well as to my Krebs Ktr-08, on both weapons the sight was way, and I mean way off, couldn't get it on the paper not even with maximum adjustment. I also noticed it had 2 center dots, one in the actual center and one slightly dimmer up and to the right of the center dot. I checked using both eyes both open and closed to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me but it was there regardless.

So I sent the thing back to Eotech and I got the site back today with no guidance as to if they did anything to it. It appears to me that it is still way off when I mounted it back on the M4.

My question is this do you have to have an additional mount to make an Eotech work on an M4? It has an integral Picatinny rail mount just like the 557, I was under the impression you could mount it directly to the weapon without a Larue or other mount am I wrong here?

Do you have a 512 or 517?
The catalog say either will mount on a Picatinny rail.

You could have a problem with your rail.

I'd suggest you:

1)check the rail for any burrs in the area where it mounts
2)move the sight forward of back 1 or 2 slots to see if there is a change in registration
3)try the sight on another weapon,, do you have a ruger 10/22 or anything with a rail?? If not a friends weapon.

Sorry about the title I couldn't figure out how to change it after my accidental post snafu.

The sight I have is a 517. I tried mounting it on both my M4 and a Krebs KTR-08 which has an integrated rail, but I ran into the same issue on both weapons.

1 last idea,, set up the 517 on your best AR and ask a friend to sight it in.

If it is still off,, the factory can't argue with your case for a replacement..

I'm going to take it over to Guns plus in Fayetteville and have them take a look, just to make sure I'm not missing something.

What really irks me is I've already sent this back to the factory once and I think they turned around and just sent it right back to me without doing anything to it. :mad:

Since when has Guns Plus been a preferred service provider? :confused::munchin

I wouldn't call them a preferred service provider, but they have a range I can shoot on, and they sell Eotechs, so I figured I'd go shoot and at the same time have them compare the sight I have to one of the ones they have in the shop....I wanted to shoot this weekend anyway so I was going to try to knock out two birds with one stone...with that said I'm open to suggestions.
