Could this be the beginning of the end for the automobile? I am curious with what it runs on and how often it needs to be serviced. Comments?

Hmmmm. I wonder If I can convert my snowblower?
Yeah - wait until he flies into his first high-voltage power line with the thing because he didn't see it - I've seen what they can do to helicopters.
And so it ges...

Maybe motorcycle. Can't take a date out, buy groceries, run the kids to school, and you'd need serious clothes to fly in winter. A flying car will kill the automobile, not a jet pack.

Considering that jet-packs and the like have been in the works since the 50's [with a few minor successes with severely short ranges due to a limited fuel supply]....No, no I do not think that it will ever replaces automobiles.
Now if they ever produce small units for military use I wouldn't be too surprised if they were used as a form of jump-pack to allow the wear to make short hops, or even landings from planes [ala Starship Troopers the Novel]. But civilian use? Not likely.
Imagine drunk drivers in flying cars:eek:
I doubt manual would be the main control scheme for a flying car. Point and click flying with computers to detect everything from drunk to angry flying and lock out controls.

That's Awesome! I don't think it'd replace the automobile... but that is pretty cool. Think of the combat applications to something like that.... brings a whole new meaning to "Fighting soldiers from the sky...." Change the Ballad of the Green Beret to say "Fearless men... who jump and (FLY)" haha

Low torque and really high rpms combined with a favorable measuring standard.

I'm an EE and not an Aero Eng, but power is power. The above link explains it much better than the textbook I have from Physics 250. Man that was a long time ago. :) Cool question to dust off the cobwebs. Thnx.
but power is power
Which is why high torque diesel engines are used to power Corvettes and Mustangs, right? :D :D

Rgr Big Teddy, wired that way. Too funny. I wound up doing the same thing for SET/Lockpicking...ask how to pick the lock and instead show the guys the guts and explain how it works...bad habit :p
