U.S. soldier waterboards 4-year-old daughter
The Daily Mail reports that a U.S. soldier and father to a 4-year-old girl waterboarded her when she couldn’t recite the alphabet.
According to the Mail Online, 27-year-old Joshua Tabor, a soldier at the Lewis-McChord base in Tacoma, Washington, decided to use the CIA information procuring technique because he knew his daughter was “terrified of water.” For those who’ve managed to sit out the details of the war against terrorism, waterboarding is the much-debated practice of pouring water over a victim’s head until they think they are drowning. Officially denied the label of “torture,” it was used by the CIA on detainees at Guantanamo Bay during the Bush administration before it was banned under the Obama administration.
Police found out about the waterboarding incident after Tabor was spotted walking through the neighborhood in a Kevlar vest, threatening to break windows. When they went to Tabor’s house, his girlfriend led them to a closet in the house where the girl, beaten and bruised, reportedly told them “Daddy did it.” She has now been taken into care while her father, who admitted to placing his daughter on a kitchen counter and submerging her head in water, is facing charges of assault.
Though authorities have yet to go on record linking the incident to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Tabor's confusion between torture techniques and parental techniques highlights the particular difficulty many of our vets are facing as they make their way between combat and civilian life.
Once called “battle fatigue”, PTSD is defined by the National Institute for Mental Health as an “anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to a terrifying event or ordeal in which grave physical harm occurred or was threatened.” With symptoms that range from “frightening thoughts and memories” to feeling “emotionally numb, especially with people they were once close to,” the disorder is on the rise, reportedly afflicting as many as 1 in 8 soldiers returning from duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Great, another reason for the MSM to point to how screwed up deployments make people. Can't just be because the guy is a loser, he has to be a loser with PTSD from too many deployments.

He just gained custody of his daughter, according to the article, so who knows why he didn't have her to begin with. Some people don't deserve children. This crap makes my blood boil.

this azzhole is sentenced, I hope SOMEONE is in court to object to any PSTD defense. This wasn't "waterboarding", it was straight up child abuse. Even if nobody ever had been "waterboarded" this shortsstain would have exploited his daughter's fear of water to mistreat her.
If this guy got his PTSD on the flightline, the prosecutor and the pre-sentence report writer should be informed. Real soldiers should make it a point to be present at sentencing to object to PTSD bullshit being given to Court.

WD ,These clowns acting up to get 50,70, or even 100 % PTSD ratings are fooling themselves, the Gov, plus ripping off the system.
I saw men with a life ahead of them in 89-90 opt out for the PTSD feel nothing in life meds game in in 90's here. WD we could not take them fly fishing, but; that is one thing they damn sure need.
Gerald Kilburn ( POW Korea 1,000 days, White Star, FOB 2, Son Tay G-3) told me in late 69- Captain, anyone who has ever done a damn thing in war will find a way to forget it. He said- "Some drink, some get away from people, and some stay so busy they do not have time to think."
That man with was SGM Charlie Ferguson, SGM's "Splo" Pylant, Bryant and two more SGM's in A CO, 6th Group. They damn sure knew what was going on. That unit was loaded with SOG, Project, and Mike Force men. I felt blessed to be in their company.

The ptsd reference comes from the journalist. Not the accused, or the DA, or the defense attorney. If it is rolled out as defense I'll be amazed if it stands.
This is simple assault, battery, child abuse and neglect. He's going to jail and the child's going into foster care (and isn't ever going back to first line family).

I believe his lawyer woud have to present such a defense before the presiding judge, who would in turn look at the facts, get expert opinions and interperetations(hopefully from the VA or some other competent source), etc and then rule as to whether the defense can be presented as such. Consigliere might have more information on the process. I'm interested to see if his lawyer tries for a change of venue, looking for a judge who would buy into such bulls#@t as its getting harder and harder to plead insanity these days. Its too soon in the case to know yet, the press being the only one to make the claim so far.
As for the man, he'll get his. I've found that when these types reach the jail, the reciprocal applies to what Jesus said. That which you do TO the least of these, you do TO me also.
