probably not. downgrading himself from Flag Officer status probably would've helped as well.
I'm not saying it would be morally right for him to play dress up as long as he did it with less medals and shaved, we all know it's wrong whether you wear one unearned decoration or a chest full of them.
However I was just commenting that his chances of being caught would've been much lower had his uniform not been so over the top.

Three years in the Army and the guy ETS'd as a Staff Private - no wonder he got out - the way he moved it would've taken him at least 75 years to make Second Lieutenant...and he would've had to have been another Methuselah to ever make GO.
