I am trying to verify if there was some type of "SF Baby" program in exisitence for the Regular Army in NOV 82.

In 1988 when I went to the course, there was the REP 63 program for the Reserve Components but I am pretty sure that RA had to be on their second enlistment.

I am trying to verify if there was some type of "SF Baby" program in exisitence for the Regular Army in NOV 82.

I got a PFC Engineer and a SP4 Communicator for my ODA out of SFTG during that time period - prepped them and sent them off to SFUWO ASAP so they could function with the team.

I think the SGT and 2nd enlistment criteria came about circa '85 or so when SF became a Branch.

BTW - '82 doesn't quite rate as being "Old SF Babies" for a number of us floating around in here. ;)

Richard's $.02 :munchin

I would say more than 2/3ds of my class (3-80), mix of AD and RC.
The student NCO's had their hands full...

Yep,,, had loads of em in B/2/7. when we began the fun in honduras there were more pfc and sp4 on the teams than e-7s. some were very good and some were just along for the ride. they were mostly 11 and 12 series because the training for commo and medic were just too long to get much use out of a 3 year enlistment.

SF Baby '69/'70!!

Um, AM, you are still a big baby... ;)
I'll miss you at SHOT, can't make it this year.

In 82/83 - I was one of those with an SF Contract... It was not easy, but I don't think I would do anything differenly given the choice.

SF Baby 1971- I was recruited in Basic at Ft Ord in July, 1970...I made PFC out of Jump School in Jan 1971, SP/4 out of Mackall in Feb 1971 and E-5 out of phase III in May 1971. The guy that handed me my orders assigning me to the 5th Group was pissed- It took him 7 years to make E-5...

SF Baby - went from AIT at Ft Ord in 68. E-3 at check in to SFTG then promoted to E4 in Training.

In fact SOG was heavily populated by SF Babies running recon when I was there.
