FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, Dec. 29, 2009) - Retired Army Col. Robert L. Howard, a Medal of Honor recipient and U.S. Army Ranger and Special Forces veteran died at 70 years of age Dec. 23 at his residence in San Antonio, Texas.
Howard, born July 11, 1939 in Opelika, Ala., was known throughout the Army and the military's special operations community for his courage and leadership in combat. He entered the service on July 20, 1956 and was medically retired on Sept. 30, 1992. He died of natural causes.
