My brother in law is looking for a few of these but I believe the site has this listed wrong. They called this place to order some but they are currently out of stock and they don't know when they'll get anymore. He is just looking for the container to make rod boxes for his welding truck. I appreciate the help guys.

It's the container for a 40# cratering charge, just like it says in the picture...cratering charges are used to breach roads, dams, stuff like that...they are designed to push earth...

any idea where I might be able to find one? Everything we type in doesn't bring us to a link where they have any, and that was the only site we've seen them so far.

Got any surplus stores out your way? Ask them - I'll bet they've got contacts for about anything you want to get that's legally obtainable.

Richard's $.02 :munchin

Well I appreciate that info if you know any other names it goes by let me know but he will call the local surplus store by him and see what they say on a 40# cratering charge. I googled that and found info on it but no pictures so we'll see what he can come up with. Thanks again.

I believe that 155mm artillery rounds come in similar tubes, 120mm mortar rounds may as well. If he doesn't have to have them round, the square 81mm mortar cans are plentiful and are very inexpensive. The 40mm or 20mm cans would work if the rods are short enough.

Shipping will kill you. I would look for a nearby base like Pendleton with artillery or engineer units (or Guard units) and start cruising the DRMO (if you want a lot of them) or surplus stores nearby.

Good luck.

If you can I would also try to contact the ASP or Residue yard on post. Sometimes they will work with you.
