Hello,

I was wondering if any one from ProfessionalSoldiers.com has seen these videos on YouTube entitled "Afghan Video Diary".

Here is the link to one of the videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1NqBW9kXsU)

One Question: Why does he seem so angry? :boohoo

I watched a bunch of them, I liked them. wish there were more.
I like his comments like, "There's only one way to win the hearts and minds, that's working hand in hand with the Afghan people. 5PM Productions."
Tried to recognize some of the scenery especially driving through the pass. It was not the Kabul - Jalalbad road (I'm familiar with that one / it's about as dramatic as this footage) Maybe near the Salong tunnel or closer to Kyber? You HAVE to SEE this country to believe it! The woman in the Kabul area wear blue burkas, where do they where white?

One Question: Why does he seem so angry? Generally I found his narratives positive and up-beat (see quote) especially in country.
The states-side one that this links too? Yeah, a little downer but that might be time and distance and reflection. Most folks, especially those who tried very hard to improve things feel let-down that they couldn't accomplish more. But, the tours are short and there isn't that much time. I ran out of time on a few projects and had to pass them to my replacement. That bugged me a lot. He's justified in being proud of his Team, his ANA and himself.

He looked a little familiar, he might have been posted earlier. Anyone recognize the soldier insignia? Looks like a saguaro cactus above crossed arrows.

Coming Summer of 2008.

Didn't see it at MarketFair15.

When you get to SF give us your opinion.

Worried about being killed but walking around filming others while he's a team guy? Wonder how many times his Team Sergeant asked him to "FOCUS" in that nice TS way?

Makes me wonder who lit the string on his tampon.

IIRC, Surgicalcric, TR, and TS know him, and he's been "discussed" here and somewhere else before.

I wish him well in school, where he'll be much happier.

That guy is an idiot. I was deployed to Afghanistan the same rotation as him. That was the year of the "Taliban Resurgence". We took lots of casualties. I was by my old company just two days ago and looked at the plaques in the hallway; I counted 22 Purple Hearts for that rotation alone. Those guys, the National Guard guys, didn't have a picnic either. They lost SFC Robinson in a pretty one-side fight and, later, that same team left country in a bad situation (I won't get into that here). Some of their other teams were pretty busy conducting a number of operations, but they did not see much combat. But, within that dangerous environment, this guy had nothing better to do than to film BS. On top of that, he aired every piece of dirty laundry about his team for the whole world to see.

For some reason - I'm not in the know on the reasons - his SF tab was revoked. Knowing how hard it is to justify that administrative action, I’m willing to bet it was for something pretty bad. He seems to blame that on everything and everyone but himself. He mainly singles out his team sergeant and subsequently, his whole company chain of command. He acts as if he is the only guy in the universe that has had a bad experience in a unit. I guess most of us deal with that like men while others must deal with it like immature little boys.

We never worked with this particular team while in the box during that rotation. And, this is not the ODA that was in the FOB either; those guys were OK. I'll send you a PM.
