Many of these folks have the same level of common sense as my ex-wife, who took shorts and sandals on a vacation to Scotland....she questioned my packing list that included gore tex and thinsulate...we had to buy stuff for her once we got there...

There is no time of year in that neck of the woods where you shouldn't be prepared for unpleasant weather...IMNSHO...
