"Somebody asked a soldier, 'Now that you are going to be deployed, what are you most worried about?' and the guy said a court martial," Shachnow said. "It is such a legally complicated landscape for our soldiers. A mission is almost treated like a law enforcement action.

Great article. He's straight up. He calls it like it is. One reason I always had great admiration for Gen. Shachnow.

Yep - we operated under some pretty strange ROEs on occasion back when - didn't like it then and the guys today obviously don't think too much of theirs, either.
And so it goes...;)
