Here's my complaint
I was looking at your online ad located at http://bestbuy.shoplocal.com/bestbuy/default.aspx?action=entryflash&adref=header.
There is no mention of a Happy Thanksgiving greeting but in the lower left hand corner you have an image that says "Happy Eid-al-Adha". You have to put your mouse over this terrorist oriented islamic holiday to see a TRUE AMERICAN holiday.
What's up with that? Are you not proud to be an American company? Who proofed this ad?
I think I'll take my business to Walmart or Target. At least they still use AMERICAN greetings.
Thank you for the link and complaint filed. I find this to be in extremely poor taste given the times in which we find ourselves. This is yet another example of PCness going overboard.

Best Buy wishes Americans a "Happy Eid al-Adha" during Thanksgiving week; fails to mention our own National Holiday.
Take a look at Best Buy's Sunday, November 22, 2009 advertisement circular inviting Americans to shop the electronic retailer's pre-Thanksgiving Day sales. In the lower left-hand corner of the advertisement’s front page is this chirpy little wish: Happy Eid al-Adha. Conspicuously missing is any mention of our National Holiday unless this directive counts: Shop Thanksgiving Day at Bestbuy dot com.
What is Eid al-Adha? It's a Muslim holiday. Best Buy wants to wish someone (certainly not patriotic Americans) a happy terrorist-oriented Islamic holiday.
Thanksgiving Day, in President George Washington's words, is a day to give thanks for: the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; For the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed...
Americans have a much to be thankful for, a great deal of which is in direct conflict with the Islamic beliefs. Take a good look at the words of George Washington again and then ask Best Buy why it wants us to celebrate a holiday from a culture directly opposed to the civil and religious liberty we cherish?
Boycott Best Buy and take your business to a company that is Proud to be American.

Filed my complaint this morning. I received an automated response stating they have a "large volume of emails" and recommended I call their help line if I wanted a response. It went on to state that if calling was not convenient I should reply to the email if I wanted my concern addressed. It did sound as if "inquiries" would not be addressed withotu a follow up email.
Needless to say, I emailed back to say to let them no there was no rush in addressing my complaint as I'm taking my business elsewhere.
I figure if they're busy reading/addressing my concern before someone else's (I did respond to their email after all), it might further hurt their profit margin. :p

Best Buy’s customers and employees around the world represent a variety of faiths and denominations. We respect that diversity and choose to greet our customers and employees in ways that reflect their traditions.
We do use the word “holiday” in some of our advertising because it is meant to be inclusive to everyone. However, just as we have in the past, we will also reference specific holidays such as Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa in our weekly ads, store signage and other advertising vehicles.
We encourage our employees to interact with customers naturally and feel free to wish them a Merry Christmas if they are celebrating that holiday.

Diversity will be the end of us....... We (America) was founded on Judeo Christian belieths and because of that we have always been opened minded and ready to let all have their peace to say and live as they wanted within reason...... But the Islams Fascist have no tolerance for anything not Islam and because of that we should not have any Islamic Diversity.
American Christians
American Jews
American Hindus
American Indians
American Buddhist
American Agnostic
etc minus Islam
Are open to ideas but Islam is not unless you are a Muslim. You are nothing unless you are Muslim and because of that they should be not given the same quarter as the rest of us.
Boycott Islamic Diversity as they are only working against our way of life......
Rant over...:p
Seems more like just another typical Sunday marketing ploy to me...which will change Wednesday for Thanksgiving and then Friday going into the BIG Christmas strategy towards pushing spending by the American consumer to be followed by the typically upcoming Kwanzaa, Hannukah, Valentine's Day, Passover, Easter, Memorial Day, Juneteenth (in Texas), Fourth of July, etc marketing campaigns, too.
I'm only insulted in that it has nothing at all to do with any sense of faith or allegience to anything beyond the 'bottom line' associated with corporate marketing for sales revenues. :(
And so it goes...

Best Buy Ad Touting Muslim Holiday Sparks Debate
Tuesday, November 24, 2009
A Best Buy ad with a Muslim theme is raising questions of how retailers should mark religious holidays.
The ad on BestBuy.com wishes Muslims a happy Eid al-Adha, a Muslim holiday that lasts three days and happens to fall on the extended Thanksgiving weekend.
A BestBuy.com message board has been filled with mixed responses since the ad was posted, MyFoxTwinCities.com reports.
One says, "Thank you Best Buy for the Eid Greetings!! I plan to spend more money at BB (Best Buy.) Thank you for being inclusive of various cultures."
Another post wasn't as supportive: "Happy Eid Al-Adha but no Merry Christmas? I assume your next advertisements will say Merry Christmas. Otherwise, I will no longer shop at best buy. I will shop at those businesses which support Christmas."
Best Buy released a statement saying, "We do use the word 'holiday' in some of our advertising because it is meant to be inclusive to everyone. However, just as we have in the past, we will also reference specific holidays such as Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa in our weekly ads, store signage and other advertising vehicles."

What gets me is, how Eid-al-Adha is based on a passage in various religious correspondence, but no mention by best buy of any other Faith's celebrations. Did best buy get their start in America or a primarily Muslim based nation? From my research, they got their start in Minnesota under the name of Sound of Music in 1966. Maybe Turkey's business is better than ours? Give me a break. They are pandering to a politically correct arena filled with "don't say that, but say this instead" ideology. Like TS said, obama and c.a.i.r. must be proud. Aside from that, another AO for best buy is China. Can't say no to the bank even though the bank is possibly supporting the terrorist efforts to break this country down from the inside out (bankruptcy)? Here is a little blurb, albeit from wikipedia about a similar situation in '06:
Christmas Controversy:
Main article: Christmas controversy
During the approach to the 2006 holiday season, competitor Walmart, responding to pressure from conservative Christian groups, made a largely publicized decision to center their holiday marketing strategy around the term Christmas. In response, Dawn Bryant, a Best Buy spokeswoman, stated: "We are going to continue to use the term holiday because there are several holidays throughout that time period, and we certainly need to be respectful of all of them." Sound familiar? The American Family Association criticized Bryant's statement and launched a campaign against Best Buy's policy.[42] The American Family Association has often been criticized of creating similar controversies nationwide and rebukes claims that it has limited access to other religions and peoples.[citation needed] In reaction to the same policy, the Catholic League placed Best Buy on its 2006 Christmas Watch List.[43] In 2007, Best Buy included the term "Christmas" in some of its marketing materials as well as greetings for Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.
Just before Thanksgiving in 2009 the Christmas controversy was stirred up again when Best Buy's Black Friday ads featured the Muslim Holiday Eid Al-Adha.
I am sorry for the rant, but when people are so blatant in their ignorance, it makes me sick. Happy Thanksgiving!
complaint sent, and ended with a heartfelt "Happy Thanksgiving!" :D

Happy Eid al-Adha Best Buy Ad Sparks Debate
Shoppers show support, displeasure with greeting

MyFox Twin Cities Report
RICHFIELD, Minn. - A scanned version of the Best Buy Black Friday ad on BestBuy.com wishes Muslims a happy Eid al-Adha, which falls on the extended Thanksgiving weekend.
Since the ad was posted, a message board on BestBuy.com has filled up with plenty of responses. Tuesday morning, a discussion of the ad on BestBuy.com had more than 100 responses. Some of those comments were supportive of the greeting and some called for a boycott of the retailer, including boldly racist remarks.
Here's a look at some of the posts on the BestBuy.com message board :
I worked part time at Best Buy two years ago and am shocked by this! The sad thing is that I think it will cost Best Buy a lot of business, and some MAJOR bad publicity which will hurt the employees who had nothing to do with the decision. What in the heck were you thinking Best Buy?????

Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is a Muslim holiday lasting three days. The feast is based on Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son to display his obedience to God. According to the Koran, a voice from heaven stopped Ibrahim, allowing him to sacrifice a ram instead.
In the spirit of sacrifice, families observing Eid al-Adha eat about a third of their meal, sharing the rest with family and friends and donating some to the poor.

I see you are wishing "Happy Eid al-Adha" but only mention you are "open" on Thanksgiving. Very poor idea. Whoever created your marketing campaign knows who your target market is. It now appears your target market is NOT English speaking Americans during a very important American holiday season. I certainly hope this was an oversight not caught in editing. However I don't believe that is the case. I will no longer shop at Best Buy until I feel otherwise.

See, I always thought that the story of Abraham was from the Old Testament (Genesis 22:1-24, also the Torah, IIRC), which was written a long time before the Muslims claimed it.
Good thing Best Buy has a multi-cultural staff to tell us what is what, like Jewish/Christian story bad, Muslim version of the same story good.
