Has anyone used a IP PBX that replaces traditional proprietary hardware PBX / PABX?
We have a phone system here that could confuse God Hisownself...I want to throw off the chains of old world telephony...any suggestions?

I'm currently doing some consultancy work for Samsung in their telephony products (PABX etc) although I'm not a PABX man, I'm sure I could obtain some good advice for you. Some of these Techs are out of this world smart...
This I think I do know...IP is still too unreliable.
Example:
We have a Skipe phone at home here for all our international calls. it's extreemly cheap and the quality is good enough. However the other day I was working from home and the quality was poor enough to get in the way of quality business communication.
Also I belive that IP doesn't always save you money, depending on a number of factors. If you want to give me a brief on what you're trying to achieve, I can get some answers for you?

I work for a Data Center in Rochester NY. This place was retro-fitted for network but in a previous life was a telco hub. The office phone system was a proprietary system that in order to get work done, we have to call the installer (Nice setup eh?) We are looking at replacing our current system with a skype setup ie Pretty May.
We have no issues with bandwidth, with network or connectivity. Our internet connection quality is....phenomenal...naturally.
I am looking at using an IP based system at all three of our network data centers and was looking at what sort of system might best facilitate that.
