Barack Obama ran an unprecedented Presidential campaign - utilizing the power of design to help secure the seat of the President of the United States of America. However, his iconic emblem, the ever present "O", holds more power than even Obama knows. Bill Whittle points out the dangers of branding an ideology with an icon and how, perhaps, the powerful symbol will be used against the very man it built up.

Thanks. As an entrepreneur, I've studied a little bit about branding.
Hadn't thought abut it from a political perspective - or the downsides.
Appreciate the post.

"Everything else is fading away"
It's a little too Conspiracy Theory meet Manchurian Candidate for me.
Didn't Freud mention that sometimes a cigar is just a cigar? Quite frankly I think both parties ran "post turtles" because we just didn't have anyone from either party able to lead. So it all came down to packaging. Hell it's always worked for me when I buy toothpaste . . . haven't had a cavity since 1998! Another great contribution Howard.
Mankind has always been fascinated by symbolism - and the bond of politics (as well as religion) and iconography go back as far as recorded History.
