I didn't see this part of the ceremony but I was watching the actual wreath laying at the tomb. It was very apparent that he was taking all movement cues from the General next to him who was vocally cuing him to walk, put his hand up, etc. You could read the General's lips and see Obama's immediate responses. I'm sure all President's have needed a military "handler" in these situations - but some need a handler more then others.
I don't think he's intentionally doing anything subversive. What I do know is that he's clearly clueless. The fact that he doesn't immediately know what he's supposed to do when the anthem is being played speaks volumes to me. I think the guy is so extremely self-absorbed, and has been for so long, that he doesn't know what it really means to be an American.
Just like he doesn't automatically know that it isn't okay to start off a press conference about an American travesty by giving shout-outs to your buddies. He doesn't figure it's going to be an issue when in reality, it's a big issue to everyone but him, the press and the far-left. I'm sure in this shot he was day-dreaming about who he was needing to call or text or whatever the second he was done with this tiresome ceremony.

Honestly, I don't think HE'D notice. I'm sure service members are beneath his notice and he doesn't know protocol anyway.

IMO, the man is, at best, a political opportunist who cares as little for his supporters as he does his opponents. Yet even if one sets the bar that low, he still fails to understand that, what ever else he thinks about a situation, he's interacting with voters.:rolleyes:

He actually had the gall to concede civilizations debt to Islam (2:14), and congratulate Muslims on inventing algebra (2:32)…LOL…even though algebra was invented over 800 years before Mohammed’s birth…by the Babylonians. This "golden" Islamic age in which Obama refers, was marked by a number of medieval thinkers and scientists living under Islamic rule; they were but transmitting what they themselves had received from non-Muslim sources which were utterly heretical from a Muslim viewpoint:

I had actually planned on using that phrase at the last Dining Out I recently attended, but I was surprised that the toasts never went beyond "To the Chief of Staff of the Army".

I guess they do not cover national respects and courtesies at Community Organizer College.
For all of his cleverness, he doesn't seem to be a quick learner, either, though at least he has learned to return a salute. Most of the time.

I'm not a big fan of the president, but with all fairness, I was there, I saw him put his hand on his heart when the colors were presented on Veterans Day. I guess he finally figured it out.
I agree Shar, he's clueless. Obama loves him some Obama.
