A few thoughts on the 20th anniversary of the fall of The Berlin Wall.

A salute to all you Cold Warriors who stood vigilant for many years and kept the Bear in check. Perhaps never firing a shot, watching the border in Germany, facing the DMZ in North Korea, patrolling the flight line at SAC bases, piloting U-2s in unfriendly air space, watching the horizon from a cold windy bridge of a Destroyer, monitoring a radar scope in a remote outpost. Resolute but unknown, steadfast but unappreciated, dedicated but unthanked. A shining example of good eventually triumphing over evil.

You did well. You preserved freedom. Be proud.

When I was there in the fifties, I often wondered how long we would have lasted if the "ballon went up"............;)

Just depended on how good the roads were in your AO and how quick the T-55s could get there.:D

A piece of that wall is in my attic. What a fantastic time to be in history!
