View Full Version : Problem with Barretta
Hey to all, Have an issue with a Barretta (not mine) pistol shoots to the left, sights (adjustable) all the way to the left. Just barely hits paper, on the left. I told this guy to bench the pistol in a vice, check slide for tightness, possible bent barrell. Has anyone else had an issue with this pistol of ideas how to correct? thanks, CSM-H

If you moved the rear sight all the way to the left then it will most definitely strike left. If it's the front sight then you have trouble if it is not adjustable. If the front sight is adjustable and you have pushed it to the left and still shooting left.
A quick fix is to "JB QUICK" or "JB WELD" to thicken the left side of the front sight blade and file down (Thin off) the right side thus moving the front sight further left. generally such adjustments are small.

If it's shooting to the left you need to move the rear site to the right to correct it. Can get confusing but here's how it works.
Take your two index fingers and align them like your sights with your left index finger as the front and the right index as the rear. Now look where you are aiming (center of the target). Now move right finger to the right and you will move your point of aim to the left which will be where your bullet is currently hitting.

try shooting another pistol. If you find yourself shooting slightly to the left again, then it your trigger pull. Hold your hand up and pull your trigger finger back. Notice how it has the tendancy to make an acrh back to your hand. Try keeping your last joint in your finger straight as you pull your finger towards you. This will lessen the arch and create more of a straight pull back. Glocks are notorious for "shooting to the left" alot of "in-correct" people knock their rear sites over to adjust for this, but its the way Glock makes their triggers that people seem to pull their rounds left on the target. Hope this helps
