ZABUL PROVINCE, Afghanistan — More than six years after sending the first Stryker armored vehicles into desert combat, the Army has decided that it’s probably a good idea to start painting them tan so they will blend in with the environments in Afghanistan and Iraq.

I read this earlier today on my RSS feed. I like Michael's perspective on it. Lately, many of his posts have been critical of higher leadership as he has lost some embed opportunities or been frustrated with lack of action sending more troops, etc. He made some good points defending the leadership and their tactical decision NOT to paint the Strykers tan prior to this point. Ultimately I would agree that we need some in both green and brown. Or maybe green with some tan accessorizing. It could be a fashion statement...
Actually the correct camo pattern would be to paint them in "ACU" digital pattern so they will blend in with any environment and only require one paint job.....

Yes indeed. I don't know why that didn't come to me sooner.

They'd need a bigger sofa...

For cryin' out loud. I can't believe I'm the only one who knows the answer to this one! Here's the best pattern for the AO.
I mean you want them to NOT stand out, right? So, hide in plain sight.

Though I appreciate Dozer's picture, I'm not a big fan of ACU's, style or pattern, nor has the digital pattern worked for the Army football team. Not unless the field itself is in ACU digital. Kinda like running zebras.

Kind of hard to cammo the dust from a pile of heavy wheels rolling down a dirt road.
