In 1977 I was attending college in northern CA. There were several other ex-pat vets in the complex. Many there on the GI Bill because it was all they could get when they got home besides a ration of crap. In the apt directly above mine lived a RVN survivor. Often on a Friday or Saturday night he would sit up there alone and get drunk. Then he'd play this song over and over again with the volume turned up. He'd cry some, sure. And when some freaks down the hall started yelling at him to shut the hell up it was good to see more than my door open up to tell them to shut the hell up themselves and go back inside. The guy upstairs had a lot of friends that he never met. He only stayed half a year, and moved out. Never knew where he went. I was glad he played that song. I wish he would have stayed. I hope he faired well.
