"Old Blood and Guts"...they loved him or hated him.

My father-in-law was an Infantry Officer in the 55th Armored Infantry Battalion, 11th Armored Division, 3rd Army under Patton's command and thought the world of Patton - much less of Bradley.

My uncle was an Infantry NCO in I Company, 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, 1st Army under Bradley's command and thought the world of Bradley - but didn't like Patton.

Both disliked Montgomery equally.

And so it goes...;)

The Patton posters have wisdom.

Both disliked Montgomery equally.

I've met WW2 Veterans who share this opinion, one paratrooper was extremely critical of the basic plan for Operation Market Garden.

My uncle Joe served under Patton in his tank outfit and often said that the phrase "Blood and Guts" meant their Blood and his Guts.... He respected him but didn't like him..... :p Also said that his tank had his stars high up on his antenna so the enemy would know whose tank it was.......;)

Michael Yon sent an email out, perhaps others have seen, I thought it was worthy of posting. Market Garden remembered.
