View Full Version : When does HIllary bail???
Hillary...
No being alllowed to take a front-seat role in U.S. foreign policy as is customary....overshadowed by THE ONE.
Not 100% rid of ambition to be President
Still has legions of more centrit Democratic supporters (and some cross-over Republicans)
Has an ego the size of a barn.
Has a husband with an ego the size of a barn.
SO,
At what point does she quit her job as Secretary of State??? My guess is after the Midterm electdions..
I still cannot fathom why she accepted this appointment from him. She must be...fuming. :D
I'll say the mid-terms as well.

My personal opinion is that it'll be in the third year of the ones term, that way she's got the experience for her run for the presidency and she can ride the media attention until the election.
Just my .02

That had me wondering for a while ... but.... how better to torpedo a rival than to accept a position and then for reasons of ... (principle..moral compas. whatever..) bail once the ship starts sinking. I feel like a dumbass for seeing this this late in the game... it is her BEST chance for the democratic ticket next election.. Help torpedo 'O" and look principled doing it.
YMMV.

What's that old saying, "You keep your friends close, and keep your ENEMIES closer".
I think they BOTH wanted to keep each other as close as possible.
I agree with you. 3rd year, AFTER the mid terms and the GOP gains a few more seats. Letting people show that the Dems are NOT working well in the WH and both houses.
As slick politicians go I think Hillary is overrated. Bill Clinton was a useless populist, but has this amazing charisma; people know he's a dirtball but forgive him anyway. Hillary in contrast is incredibly abrasive and polarizing, and surprisingly lacking in eloquence, tact, and composure. Despite common perception, she is not an especially experienced or savvy politician, and much of her success seems to come from riding her husband's coat tails. Her outburst in Kenya earlier this year shows sensitivity to this perception. I would worry more about Oba-Mao outmaneuvering her again, he has done it before, and unfortunately is as charming and politically savvy as Bill Clinton. If she is perceived as a threat I wouldn’t be surprised to see her, marginalized, relieved, or forced to leave her post in disgrace or scandal.

It typically takes two years of fund raising to be competitive for an election bid. Thus, I see her "bailing" towards the end of the second year of POTUS' first (and hopefully only) term. It will play out like this:
- There will be a major "crisis" (could be major in reality, or just hyped up)
- POTUS will have one stance on it; SECSTATE will remain quite for a bit on it
- a source that remains anonymous from within STATE will "leak" a disagreement
- SECSTATE will then announce resignation for some lofty reason: Time with family, time to devote to other projects, whatever
- 60 days later, she comes out swinging
Anyway, that's the rumor I'm promoting so far.

You're right - she's got huge dreams - and a huge campaign war chest to boot.
I'm guessing she's building it for the "just in case" something happens to BHO.
She cited Bobby Kennedy during the primary...and she won't be flat footed to run against Joe Biden be the lead on the ticket in 2012...

I would substitute blimp hanger instead of barn, but that is just me. She is all good with the "insulation" from the actions of the current administration. With all her negatives, I can't imagine she would have been the non-stop "glory hole" girl for every tin-hat ruler and despotic regime in the world. That shit is getting old, I don't care what your politics are.

This is the the way I believe it will go, although I am still sitting on the fence whether it will be before midterm elections or after. There are quite a few people on the Hill that believe this is how it will go down as well.
I predict we will have an Obama birth certificate, in time for the 2012 elections. Hillary will "stumble" upon it a few weeks before the major primary elections, after she has spent the two years prior to the 2012 election beating him about the head and shoulders with stuff such as Qaddafi saying "my african son"

This scenario or one like it is plausible. I have conflicting notions here. In part I think Obama was a watershed/evolution for the Dems, he is as slick as they get and perhaps Hillary's too old and bitter, but more importantly both she and Oba-Mao are hustlers, and she is an inferior one. I don't think Obama can be out slicked by anyone. The candidate who beats him and I hope it's 2012 will have to be the opposite of slick, someone seen as tough, experienced, smart, and apolitical. ( Bloomberg maybe Gen. Petraeus).
Then again someone pointed out to me years ago the Clintons are about the nastiest people around, they have left a wake of scandals, suicides, and carnage behind them, so perhaps I am naive to think her time has passed.

You really think so? I guess I'm of the opinion that if it was put out before the election it would never be allowed afterwards even if it said he was from Mars, if it proved he wasn't a citizen it would destroy the DNC, as they would then be charged with the cover up, the SCOTUS would be implicated and all their credibility would be gone as they cleared him to be POTUS, all the decisions he made for 4 years would be null and void, the mayhem would be too much, it would destroy DC, as they would have shredded the Constitution knowingly and deceived all American citizens in the process.
Now if it said something like his dad wasn't from Kenya but was instead a well known American Communist/Marxist, then I'd be more likely to agree with you as it would just bring the one down for lying about his entire history, the DNC would take a beating but would shrug and say we didn’t know. I guess in the end it depends on what it actually says.

She can try..... want to bet someone has the "video" of her impeached husband "not having sex" in the white house?
The military did not like bill "slick willy" clinton, but at the same time the military hated the "bitch"..... if she ran it would be a land-slide for the GOP. I believe that is now why we are currently stuck with the "Community Organizer".
IMO she will never be picked by the democrats to make another pres bid.
I also think this discussion is a mute one as after the "Community Organizer" leaves office, in disgrace, and labeled as the worst pres in the history of the United States it will ensure eight years or more of republican rule.
I see a whole lot of dems getting booted in 2010...... the one will be gone in 2012 for sure, if not sooner.;)

I agree. the Dims have shown a propensity for shelving people who strike out. that's why I think Kerry has been muzzled. His ego is just as big as any of them. She will try in 2016 (mayan calendar not withstanding:D) but she will do so for cash and attention. Her days are done as a viable candidate.

Do you honestly think Hillary cares about that??? If the her means justify her ends of being the first female POTUS, I don't think she cares what kind of devastation she leaves in her wake.

By 2016, Mrs. Clinton will be loooooong past her prime. Her shot must taken by 2012, IMHO. She also must exit Sec Of State office on her terms; then mop the floor with Obama. I see this as a time table driven event more than an issue motivated event. Mid cycle looks to be her target.

I think Michelle Obama has a better chance of being the first female POTUS than Hillary, think about it her situation is quite similar to Hillary's in the 90's, and she has the following similar lack of qualifications.
1) She is an exceedingly liberal Ivy League educated lawyer who until recently wasn't proud of America.
2) The media adores her, She's no Jackie-O but much more popular than Hillary ever was, unlike her husband she can speak without notes or tele-prompter.
3) She can ride her charismatic husbands's coat tails. If you think any criticism of Obama now comes with an automatic "racist" accusation, it gets even worse with Michelle since you would be a " sexist racist".

For that to work, zero needs to do the full ride of two terms. If zero continues to bask in the media like a rock star, among other things, I just don't see it happening.
On another thought, Would Mrs. Clinton have been a more viable presidential contender if she walked away from slick willy over Monica gate?

Yes, two terms, unless the Republicans can find someone in 2012 or there is a scandal. I think Monica Gate MADE Hillary. Until then she was just the bitchy wife, but Bill's dalliances and her staying with him seemed to foster a lot of empathy if not sympathy for her as the loyal wife.
I was at a charity event hosted by Elliot Spitzer's wife a few years back, ( in my brief interaction with her she seemed like a decent lady). She opened the event with, " Well I have had an interesting Spring, thank you all for coming" She got a standing ovation and raised a lot of money that night.

It will happen before the mid-term elections. The public will want an answer about healthcare, which will never come. The war and another 40,000 troops.
"O" will fail for the same reasons Hitler failed. He never allowed his generals to run their war departments, his need for absolute control, mirco management and agenda.
"Let me'z tink, aztack the English, or zi containz the russianz?, What to do, what to do? Iz got it, Iz will do both!"
Hillary wants the Oval Office, she feels entitled. She will leave to begin her campaign.
Until then she was just the bitchy wife, but Bill's dalliances and her staying with him seemed to foster a lot of empathy if not sympathy for her as the loyal wife.
Really, sympathy? Not me...I must be far too cynical because I immediately wondered what she was promised to stay with him.

I could be completely off base, but I have to credit the POTUS on something.
He seems to have done something in just under 8 months that republicans have been trying to do since 1993.......
He has effectively made the Clinton political machine irrelevant. The way the POTUS has marched over Sec Clinton has turned her from a powerhouse into a punchline.
Talk radio show hosts have tried every trick up their sleeve for over a decade to find a way to bump Hillary from the spotlight. President Obama has not only muzzled her, he has done it with a smile on his face.
...and by having VP Biden as his #2 man the POTUS has essentially 'benched' Hillary with one hand tied behind his back.
Well done Mr President, well done.

Maybe - maybe not - might be her doing to sit back and allow him to take the lead so she can come out smelling like a rose with an expanded foreign policy resume' when the xe-it hits the proverbial political fan. ;)

I was thinking along those lines... Less front time she does, the easier it is for her to flick off any of the current administration's boogers. A little too early for her to do that just yet.
