View Full Version : Hot Chili Recipe for College Football
Chili source unknown, recipe deleted
Do you have a source for this recipe, or is your friend a highly skilled individual?
I don't know the source exactly , but I think he got the recipe from a restaurant in NM where he grew up. I was skeptical of non Texas chile myself till I tried it.
If is not a family recipe, we need to credit the source. Infringement on copyright protection could create unnecessary problems.
So, Plz find the source, make a note, or delete it.

To what degree is the effort to find a source considered due diligence? If Bob gives me a recipe, and I ask him where he got it and he says it was on a 3x5 card in his wife's recipe box with no source cited, does it at that point become a "family" recipe that can be shared with others?
I guess in these times even chili is complicated...
If anyone finds themselves in SF for football season stop by for a bowl, no tofu I promise.
To those concerned, it is not complicated. We have had other professionally written recipes posted, all with source citations, or supplied upon request. It is unusual for a home recipe to be exacting in both quantity of ingredient and measurement of weight; as those conditions indicate a recipe and skill uncommon to most.
That said, with the advances in technology is it easy to address an authenticity issue; all one needs to do is upload a picture of moms secret recipe for chili, or Terrine of Foie Gras with cured fruit on the much soiled paper 3 X 5 card it was written on…As one who has had innumerable dishes pilfered over the years; spotting a professional recipe is rote and therefore requires to be addressed accordingly.
Additionally, I would be negligent in my duties if I were to bring attention to this BB by not addressing an obvious questionable and most likely attributable recipe, prior to it being brought to our attention from the outside.
My wife fixes great 4 Alarm chili from scratch - but my recipe for a quick, easy, and tasty chili football dip:
one can Wolf Brand chili w/o beans
one can Ranch Beans w/green chilis
mix ingredients - heat - ladle into bowl - top w/sour cream and shreded cheese - dip using Fritos Scoops and eat - wash down with favorite cold beer - enjoy the game
