Just wanted to say thanks to all the gear gurus. Since I have been out for a while, I wasn't really prepared for the gear requirements for my present job. I was looking in my wall locker just a minute ago and it occurred to me that I now have almost everything I could need and it is top of line, A-1 kit. And it is all due to the support and advice of people I consider to be friends.
I think there are two critical paths (among others) to success in the business:
1. Being in the right physical condition - in my case an on going project and very painful - but getting there.
2. Having the right kit. It just makes things work smoother and easier.
Thanks to Reaper and Razor, Polar and Eggroll, Psywar, High Speed, Mr. Harsey, the Team Sergeant, Doc T, The Crip and others I am no doubt leaving out - the research has been easy and the advice invaluable. I have revamped everything from my survival kit to raingear to my med kits. I am the envy of the team and we all know how important that is.
You Sluggos need to listen to these guys. When they tell you a piece of kit works - it works. I have the best belts, knife, aid bag, ruck, raincoat, etc., a man can find. My patrol cap stays despite the complaints. LOL
Like I said in the training the mind thread - don't scrimp on your kit - you'll regret it.
I am no longer cold or wet, my shit doesn't fall on the ground, and I look absolutely outstanding - due in no small part to AM's and Air177's support on the 5.11s! Its a pleasure to "jock up" in the morning. Thanks again guys.
