War in Israel Will Sink Obama Presidency

Monday, August 17, 2009 3:03 PM

By: John L. Perry

When an Israeli preemptive strike takes out Iran’s nuclear capability, there goes whatever chances may remain for President Barack Obama to fulfill his domestic agenda. And without early enactment and funding of his socialist programs, Obama will be trapped in a one-term tenure in office.

There is no way the United States can sustain a domestic transformation to European-style socialism and at the same time fight three wars abroad — in Iraq, in Afghanistan, and throughout the crescent of radical-Islamic terrorist states.

An Israeli attack to prevent or substantially delay Iran’s already-declared determination to wipe the Jewish state off the map will ignite a widespread wildfire of retaliation against Israel.

There is no assurance Americans will be spared serious terrorist attacks on their homeland, and a real likelihood those horrors will come in the wake of an Israeli-Iranian war. The cost will be enormous, but if a preemptive strike fails or does not take place, followed by the nuclear destruction of Israel, the enduring burden may be more than even the U.S. can bear.

The U.S. could mitigate much of those long-term costs by stepping in early to side with Israel in preemptively thwarting the Iranian nuclear assault. The odds for that are nil, given who Obama is and who he isn’t. No cascade of lecturing speeches by Obama as a substitute for resolute conduct of American power and security will shepherd the president through this wicket.

The radical left in America, echoing the Marxist line from Europe, will go nuts. If George W. Bush thought he had it rough from the leftists over his war on terror, that will be nothing compared with the brimstone that will be brought down on Obama’s head by the core forces to whom he owes his election.

Phrases like “no tax increase on the middle class” will be laughable. Demands for deficit-exploding “healthcare reform now” will fall on deaf ears. Bye-bye, green energy. Forget closing Gitmo. No more gutting military funding.

To handle what lies ahead, Obama will have to jettison his entire domestic-program wish list and scrape every corner of taxpayers’ pockets to fund a protect-America foreign policy he would detest having to administer.

But he will be stuck, and it will be because of his own doings — and failures to do.

Whether he will be perceived as the innocent victim sinking in a tar pit inherited from the Bush administration or as an inexperienced incompetent in foreign affairs, his personal approval will be below the bottom-most whale in the ocean.

Moreover, if he bungles America’s role, or lack of role, in the preventive attack on Iran’s nuclear operations, his credibility will be down where even the sightless sea creatures don’t venture.

No one, least of all his Marxist allies on campuses, in the masscomm media, in Hollywood and New York City, in the remains of a shrinking trade-union movement, and in the insatiable precincts of racial-victimhood, will trust him with another term.

This is not healthy politics, for either party. And Republicans had better be damn sure they come up with common-sense alternatives in policies and candidates, or even-angrier Americans will ignore them and find their own conservative pathways out of such a mess and into . . .

Well, into what? That’s the bigger problem, the higher challenge, and it’s on its way.

What do you QP's think of this possibility?

What do you believe our current POTUS would say and do?

What are the ramifications?

There's not going to be any "War in Israel". Iran has been hit many times in the past with the harshest reprisals being a lot of yelling and name calling.

Besides IIRC the VP has already said something to the effect to Israel to go ahead and reduce Iran's nuclear threat to zero and that the US could care less.

No arab nation (or nations) is going to "war" with Israel.

All of them together could not destroy Israel. (without our help)

You forgetting what Israel did to Syria very recently?

And BTW newsmax is right up there with the "National Enquirer"
