Who teaches a 3 year old to HATE?

The practice of teaching hatred exisits in many cultures of the World. I once read an interesting atricle written by a Sociologist living in Northern Ireland. Her study involved kindergarten students in both Catholic and Protestant areas of Belfast. Through interactive participation with the children she was able to identify patterns of prejudicial thought even at that early age.

Though morally questionable I would say that intensive psychological indoctrination has it's merits. In all of the reading that I've done on the Battle of Normandy I've come to the conclusion that the teenage members the 12th SS Division "Hitler Jugend" were some pretty fanatical fighters.

We have our fair share of such teachers of hate here in North Texas - many are religious zealots of one group or another, but there are other groups, too - lots do home schooling to keep their families away from all those 'others' who might influence their thinking - pretty sad stuff. :(

Homeschoolers and their reasons for doing so run the gamut like everything else - and I'm glad we continue to recognize its worth and value those who choose to do it for the right reasons. :lifter

However, like most everything else, there are some who choose to do it for any number of reasons which are questionable and far less altruistic. Unfortunately, we educators happen to see that around here more often than we'd like. :( :mad:

I put my youngest into private school because of what my older kids were exposed to in public school.

The whole culture of public high school was - well, lets just say a disapointment.

Yep - those can certainly run the gamut, too...as can the various private school offerings. It's all about having choices, finding the appropriate fit, and making the most of the opportunity. ;)

I'm in my classroom on my day off, preparing my next "secular humanist/socialist indoctrination." When is that Obama going to just start shipping 'em to me so I can put my feet up? :D
