Shane was an infantryman and later a CI soldier who served in Iraq in 2005. He was a friend, husband, and father of three.
After leaving the Army in 2005 Shane served as a game warden in Houston, TX. He had just recently transferred to the Chambers County Sheriff's Dept. IOT spend more time with his family.
He was murdered earlier this week by some scumbag when he responded to assist other officers at a domestic disturbance call. Some woman, probably out of her mind on meth, started shooting at the meter reader. When he called the police, they showed up and were arresting her in the yard. Apparently she had told them she was the only one home. At any rate, Shane went into the house and her boyfriend/husband/partner in slime emerged from behind cover and fatally shot Shane with an assault weapon. The scumbag was killed in the ensuing standoff. I hope the wife is charged with something big, because there are indications that she knew he was walking into an ambush.
Friends and family are stunned, but community support has been terrific.
He was a really good guy. Some friends of mine were generous enough to donate their own Bronze Stars this week so that each of Shane's three children can have one to remember him by since they wanted to inter him with his own. The funeral was this past Friday, and was well attended.
Rest in peace, brother.
