Sad news... :( Donnie Ray Stallworth was with an aircraft maintenance squadron at Hurlburt Field near Fort Walton Beach and is one of 7 suspects arrested for the murder of a wealthy husband and wife who adopted 13 children with special needs. They took their safe, then killed them. He is an Air Force staff sergeant attached to an elite special operations unit as stated in the Sun Herald in Biloxi. The murders occured in Pensacola, Florida . :(

Saw that.

Wouldn't want to have to write that OPREP-3.

We're going to be looking at this case a bit more in depth in my criminology class; I had just heard about all this this morning. My heart goes out to the children.

May the victims rest in peace.

Stallworth was a wrench turner "attached" to the SOF unit. The USAF spokesperson did point out that Stallworth had 5 deployments to Iraq, ( just brilliant verbage!!).

The crime was so well planned that the event was caught on a security camera that one of the perps failed to disable. Wonder if that was Stallworth's job:confused:. Maybe they were going to use the video to eval the "mission" later.

Oh come on Bob! To call those worthless, wretched, air stealing, no good, vile, evil monsters...animals.....thats just insulting animals everywhere. I do not believe there is any animal, other than humans, that kill with malice aforethought and wrongful intent!
I say string the POS's up in the town square and let the good citizenry have their wacks at 'em!!!

Rest in Peace, Byrd and Melanie Billings. Thank you for your kindness and love to those children!

On local news station, they had even "reported" that ...."one of the men had specialized training, including Army Airborne training"...

So?!? They diddnt drop onto the house, so why even mention this, like being Airborne was a specialized Murder/killing skill?!? It is a way to arrive at a job. I dont remember murder as a POI in Airborne school.

I cannot stand reporters. They grab onto anything they think may "sensationalize" a story, rather than just report the news without their personal slants and views.

I am glad the cops caught everyone involved as quickly as they did. Why someone would target such good people is beyond me. Fry 'em!

QP Utah Bob's curse resonates.

Chimpanzees have recently been documented going out in raiding parties in which they beat, maim, and kill rivals.
Hyenas regularly commit fratricide.
Lions and tigers will kill rivals' cubs upon establishing dominance over females of the species.
Hippos slaughter their young.
Orca will bat seals about like tennis balls with their flukes.
Seals demonstrate what would be called in humans "identification with the aggressor" by playing similar games with penguins.

May the survivors of the slain find succor in their fond memories of the departed. May the murderers be judged by both their peers and their by their creator. May the deceased rest in peace.

Well, I stand corrected. Thank you! I was thinking more on the level of the greed that was exhibited in this robbery/murder.

Ms Wiggins was all smiles during her "perp" walk after being charged with accessory after the fact to felony murder.

.......Police on Wednesday arrested an eighth suspect, 47-year-old Pamela Long Wiggins, charging her with accessory after the fact to felony murder, Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan said. Seven others have also been charged in the killings.......

Apparantly, there is, yet, another person of interest in this complex case.

All I can think of are these children, and hope and pray they were not subjected personally to any violence, including seeing their beloved caretakers murdered!

These perps are Demons, every last skinking one of them!

Saoirse,

Just to follow-up on your post, I agree 100% with you, and with Utah Bob! These perps were animals, with NO capacity for rational thought!

This murder is a very hot issue for me, especially considering there are factors that we, the public, have probobly not been made aware of, to protect the children with special needs.

Just my -.02 cents worth.

But Holly, I see a great deal of rational thought. They planned, they trained, they conducted the effort just as they intended. That seems as rational as can be.

Morality is a very different matter.

That's part of my concern. More and more of the old limits on behavior seem to be evaporating. I cannot help wondering how people will behave if driven by desperation instead of simple greed.

I think you would find that - as a % of the overall population - they remain relatively unchanged - historically.

Egads, Nmap.... perish the thought, I fear it's in our future? :( "Escape from New York" comes to mind. Perhaps even "Mad Max" to an extent.

Perhaps. I have heard that many tend to slander their own times; it may be that I have done the same.

Don't tell Sigaba, though. ;)

I think we just get caught up in the sensationalized news coverage. These unfortunate events are a part of everyday life and will remain so.

FWIW, data are available here (http://bjsdata.ojp.usdoj.gov/dataonline/Search/Crime/State/StateCrime.cfm). The late Mauricio Mazon liked to tease his colleagues who thought things were getting worse. Some of his peers in the psychoanalytic community refused to go east of Robertson Blvd. To them, that was the "east side."
