Shouldn't a good deal of their travel revolve around their constituencies, so they can better understand what those who elected them want done?

From what I understand some of the Galapagos Tortoise, Galapagos Marine Iguanas, & the Sally-Lightfoot Crabs were all democratic voters according to an ACORN report.

WASHINGTON -- Spending by lawmakers on taxpayer-financed trips abroad has risen sharply in recent years, a Wall Street Journal analysis of travel records shows, involving everything from war-zone visits to trips to exotic spots such as the Galápagos Islands.

Who wants to visit Miami in July or Minneapolis-St Paul in February? Those are prime-time windows to go check out how our programs to curb our nasty ol' carbon footprint are faring in places like those mentioned in the news article so they can report first-hand when they get back to their committees.

Compared to the money these elected officials are spending WHEN in session, I would prefer that they travel year round.

Just my .02.
