My son was sworn in today as a PFC in the CONG. :lifter He enlisted 13F. Odd, it took me 6-8 months to make PFC.

He’ll drill with the 169th FA BN until his ship date in October.

AND…he’s met his first poser! His MEPS roommate at the hotel last night said he was a former Navy SEAL trainee who was removed from training due to his eyesight. I guess the Navy forgot the check his eyes earlier and then just shook his hand, thanked him for trying, and turned him loose on the streets of San Diego.

So now he’s joining the Army Reserve to go SF. :D

Pat

@ Sdiver: No, not the Viet CONG. ;)

Congrats, Pat. :)

Is that the FA Bde at Buckley? Tell him to wear his hearing protection and be prepared to learn/use basic Infantry skills. ;)

Richard

Yes it is.

The hearing protection is no problem. He's transferring to CSU for their Motor Sports Engineering program. He's always got at least foam plugs in his pocket.

You can bet I'll kick him in the butt about the INF skills. I'd do that if he'd joined as a cook! :D

Well, he finally graduated 13F today. We weren't able to be there because they kept changing the grad date. First it was the weather (the 250+ year old tree on Ft. Sill froze and broke in half in the ice-storm) then they decided to hold the FOs over a week to help qualify the Gun Crews.

My sister in Fort Worth and my mother went in our place.

He was honor student with the highest scores, but not the Master Blaster. That went to a SPC with the second highest score. RHIP, I guess. ;)

He's really glad I suggested that he go to Basic and AIT in the Fall/Winter. :D

Pat

ETA: The SPC who got Master Blaster was the 3rd highest scorer.
