Do you fear your military? Seems obama does, seems he's scared shitless.

This is "your" leader.....

What a spineless coward.

Team Sergeant

No Naval Swords for U.S.N.A. Graduation this year - Threat to the Dear Leader Inside the Beltway - Washington Times
No Weapons for Anyone

From today's you couldn't make it up if you tried file.......Obama's protectors have ordered graduating Midshipmen....and I suppose Commissioned Officers through Flag rank...to leave their swords at home. Full Dress White includes "wear sword". More to the point...those badges of office have been earned in a manner Obongo and his minions just wouldn't begin to understand. Important traditions that inspire are kind of lost on the red banner crowd, apparently.
Further, ceremonial swords never seemed to bother the Secret Service for any previous President. And before World War II, the swords were not particularly "ceremonial", I've seen some of those blades, boarding actions did occur on the China Station pre-war against river pirates, warlords, etc. Those swords were worn not just to graduation, but to Inaugurations, in the receiving line at the White House afterward, to the Inaugural Ball. Somehow nobody gave it a second thought. Somehow even Presidents in the past didn't presume to specify items of uniform.
But of course, what worked for Harry Truman, Ronald Reagan, F.D.R., the Bushes, T.R., any other rational non-cult leader.....doesn't work for this former state senator anointed by the Chicago machine.
Does he secretly consider our Naval and Military leaders "the enemy"? Perhaps the message this sends escaped his handlers. Sad. And .....follow me on this Obama and minions.....insulting. Actually it's contemptible.

Jah, it's incredible that the leader of the world's most powerful democracy would, or even could, feel threatened by those who dispatch his commands. This request 'squeals' of Islamic dictatorship paranoia.

Do I fear my military? I do not. It has protected my bloodline for many generations.
Do I fear what he might try to do to my military? I do.

I always presumed that the Secret Service was doing everything possible to protect the President, no matter who they were. Apparently not. Because this president is “historic,” he warrants further protective measures than were afforded his predecessor. Witness the Civil Rights Presidency.

I posted this story once before after we did a live fire demo for GW. We told the Secret service it was a little strange all of us were going to be shaking the Presidents Hand with loaded Weapons and Explosives on our persons.
When just a few years before we weren't even allowed to have Bolts in our Weapons for Clinton. GW told the Secret Service when briefed about security for the FT Bragg visit in 2001.

And I thought being afraid of assassination by your own troops went out with Saddam Hussein...

I'm not sure the story is entirely true. Contextually - this makes more sense to me - but I'll dig around a bit more and see if I can find anything else about the issue.

USNA: Ceremonial swords on the prohibited list since after 9/11.

If you saw this story about how midshipmen’s ceremonial swords were on the prohibited list for graduation ceremonies, you were probably not pleased about it. Neither was I - but I checked with the Public Affairs office for the Naval Academy, and they informed me that this policy was put into place in response to 9/11. It is, bluntly, a stupid policy - if our midshipmen cannot be trusted to not assassinate the President, we’re in much worse trouble than we thought - but it’s also not the administration’s fault.

I encourage President Obama to change this policy and give his officers their swords back. We are citizens of a Republic, after all - they are not subjects, and he is not a king.

Here's what's posted on the USNA web-site regarding commissioning week activities:

Stadium Prohibited Items (items ok to bring on the Yard have an asterisk)

The following items are PROHIBITED from entering through the gates. Individuals shall be allowed entrance ONLY after disposing or securing prohibited items. Furthermore, screeners will NOT “hold” items; the owner must dispose of or secure the item(s) in their vehicle, etc.

Weapons/knives of any type, to include ceremonial swords
Umbrellas*
Bags larger than a typical purse (i.e., duffle bags, back packs, large camera bags, etc.)
Mace
Outside food or drink*
Anything that may be considered a weapon or a threat by screeners
Attendees have been reminded that the above items, along with valuables, should be left at home or secured in their vehicle prior to getting in line at the security checkpoint.
Umbrella strollers and wheelchairs are allowed into the site after they have been visually swept.
Cameras and cell phones are acceptable.

This came off the Free Republic:

Today was my third USNA graduation/commissioning since 2005. The graduating Midshipmen have never carried swords at graduation during this period (unlike at West Point, where the cadets do wear ceremonial swords to graduation, and they did so when President Bush attended their graduation in 2006).

USMA seniors have worn sabers at graduation for decades, even when the President was the keynote speaker. I guess its a force protection issue, the squiddies and zoomies would only cut themselves if they had 'em. :p

Now I understand why they went to electric razors at the USNA and USAFA!

Do you fear your military?

Me? Fear the Army? Not anymore. We've already issued berets to everybody, converted to a camo pattern that doesn't blend in with ANYTHING, and made the Army Service Uniform the new "do everything" dress uniform... so there can't possibly be anything else to be afraid of. Can there?

Easy Fix - just claim all the midshipman are Muslims and the sword is for ceremonial purposes. No problem. Hell, he'll REQUIRE everyone to wear one...

Will Rogers had some of the same thoughts.

Ancient Rome declined because it had a Senate; now what's going to happen to us with both a Senate and a House?

On account of being a democracy and run by the people, we are the only nation in the world that has to keep a government four years, no matter what it does.

We had a visit from the VP. We were told it was "OK" to have our pistols but to put them all in one bag in the helo when the VP and Secret Service where there. Then I fly overwatch with an agent that has an MP5 and tells us to put ourselves in front of a threat if we find one. "UMMMM.... sorry Mr. Agent, your MP5 is all the firepower we got on this dang thing. M240's back at base and M9's in a helmet bag."

What a fun day.

To make it better all the people that attended the VP's speech at our location were forced. Entire companies forced to go hear him because no one wanted or cared to hear what he had to say.

Final note - Many of the California gentlemen that my NCOIC talked to said they had voted for Obama but didn't know who Biden was.

When just a few years before we weren't even allowed to have Bolts in our Weapons for Clinton.

One of these days, when I'm sure the Statute of Limitations has run, I will explain why my mini-museum curio cabinet contains an M-16 firing pin in an old cheap plastic case. It's almost as if years ago someone had been instructed to remove the firing pin from his rifle for a visiting POTUS, and that someone went to his armorer and obtained an extra pin, so that after inspection that someone could have the satisfaction of replacing a firing pin in his rifle and would still have a fully functional M-16A1 when he appeared before the President, (even if it was without ammunition). And that someone might keep the borrowed firing pin when later the original pins were returned by the Secret Service, as a reminder that we are not the Egyptian Army*.
