The assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, a United States Senator and brother of assassinated President John F. Kennedy, took place shortly after midnight on June 5, 1968 in Los Angeles, California. Robert F. Kennedy was killed during celebrations of his successful campaign in the Californian primary elections while seeking the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.

My high school graduation took place on 7 June 1968. Somber times and a benchmark in my personal memory box.

One of the sites where we collect trash from stormwater runoff is Lot #3 of RFK Stadium. The last time we were there my daughter asked me what "RFK" stood for. After I told her, she asked me who was he. It took me a few seconds to collect my thoughts enough to answer her. The things that defined our generation and troubled the nation are not what troubles it now for the new generation.
