I thought about this the other night and after reading BuffaloBob's thread.......http://www.professionalsoldiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22628.....I'm curious about what the members of this board do for their communities.

What charities do you contribute to?
What community services do you belong to or volunteer for?
When and where do you give blood?
Which Little League or Pee-Wee Football teams do you coach for or are part of their booster clubs?
Do you belong to a PTA?
Ect .......

Myself,
I give blood at least once a year. In fact I'm in the process of setting up a blood drive through my Lodge. Actually, I do quit a few activities through my Lodge. I've set up our Child ID program and will be setting up CPR classes when we come back from break. We also contribute money to a local Children's Eye sight program, Helping kids who need glasses and are of low income families, get them.

I'm also looking at setting up a Locks for Love day at work. Believe it or not, I haven't cut my hair since last October. I figure, by August it'll be long enough to donate. ;)

FWIW - I can't give blood (too much time in the wrong parts of the world) and community service badge collecting is not my cup of tea - MOO.

I give to the AER and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America. I help the community by doing my part to keep the deer population in check and I pick up all my brass when I go to the range :D

I just found out that I am a tissue match for someone who needs bone marrow. They found me through the military, I guess I checked a box on a form back when I was still with the 82nd Airplane Gang. If it will keep some guy alive why the hell not? I hear it hurts like hell.

Gator your donation will be a miracle to some family. A non-family match is really something special. An added plus for you is that it is no longer a painful procedure, learn more here. (http://www.marrow.org/JOIN/Myths_%26_Facts_about_Marrow_Don/index.html) My family went thru this with my nephew. (http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/joshuaholden) You may not realize now how much you mean to this family, but when you meet you will understand. :lifter:)

Anyone else that would like to register or find out more about donating, link here. (http://www.marrow.org/)

I recently won an award from of our neighborhood "Keep Your Community Beautiful" association. The award was for staying indoors and not being seen.

The runner up was a family of circus folk who live down the street.
