I read Marcus Luttrell's book "Lone Survivor" while deployed to the location he was in...from the way the book read I thought it was used more as a Snper style weapon. Any thoughts or education for me? There is a Company here in Texas that makes a weapon similar to his and they call the line of stuff Team-10 as a memorial to the SEAL Team.

I would just like some info on the weapon in question as I have never heard of it before.

MK12 is similar to the SASS. The MK12 is 5.56 and the SASS is 7.62 I believe the MK12 is more of a DMR rifle.

If you search....

IIRC, the Mark 12 is the Navy name for the SPR.

Correct Sir, I left that out.

A question Sir. Do you consider the SPR/Mk12 more of a Sniper Rifle or a DMR?

My personal opinion is that if it is semi then it is a DMR. That goes with the SASS, SPR, or the SR25.

Of course that is my opinion only. :munchin :D

I defer to the expert opinion by brother LR1947 above.

Take it to the bank.

Thank you, coming from you this might just be enough for me to purchase some Bolt Action 300 WM for work:lifter
Last I checked there have not been any recent cases of LEO Snipers being overrun in their positions.

So, is this weapon used more as a sniper weapon, or more like and M-4?

In between I would say. Investigate the roles of Designated Marksman and Sniper and you'll probably have your answer.

I am not in the business, but personally if you asked me to choose one of my three platforms AR15, DPMS 308 or Rem 700 LTR to make 'my' best precision shot with one round, I would pick my LTR.

If you added a swarm of zombies storming my house into the gambit, I would pick either the AR15 or DPMS 308 based on which one I had more ammo and mags for.
