Gents,

As much as I have looked around the net, as well as here, I can find nothing on where I can purchase one of the wrenches we used to open jerricans we carried on our vehicles overseas. I went to the local surplus shop to see if they had any but was sadly informed that the wrenches were not in regular circulation. If anyone can counter this information, I'd love to hear it. My reason for asking is because I have military jerrican and am tired of having a hernia every time I try to unscrew the lid. I know the cans are advertised as "easy opening" but I have yet to come across one that was.

Sir, perhaps an e-mail to the company at this site: http://awico.info/index.php?a=2&s=13&sub=2&lang=en

would yield information. It looks as if they have a variety of such wrenches.

Looking at the configuration, I wonder if a strap wrench, as used by plumbers, might suffice. http://www.plumbingstore.com/tools.html

The item is midway down.

Another such offering is available at Amazon:

Hope that helps.

Strap wrench! It'll do a lot more than open fuel cans.
