No doubt.

There is some ethnic cleansing going on right now, conducted by the peaceful followers of Islam, and the media isn't saying Jack about it.

TR,

That's not what's worrying me about what's going on in the Muslim countries....
It's what's going on in "our country" I'm concerned about.....:(

both of them concern me...but it's a dilemma. After all, persecution only confirms what's been written. So, if they have truly counted the cost and are willing to pay the price, do they really need or want help?

Sometime ago in a distant past, I played in a fund-raising orchestra in what's left of a church after being burnt in a city-wide riot targeting Christians and ethnic minority. Flashbacks to those days always put me in a contemplative mood:
- From a pragmatic/pratical standpoints, what's the big deal...if one values life, family, wants to live on to raise the kids and see them grow etc. then convert to Islam and keep on living, or move out. Evolve or perish...
- Then I realize it's more than just choosing a belief system, it is an exercise of freedom. The willingness to face persecution to the point of death shows true dedication (or pure stupidity to some) and is admirable, IMHO, especially when the faith does not involve having others die to grant entrance to the good version of after life.
- Finally, there's always: "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose." Jim Elliot.

I am thankful in good 'ol USA (so far), that freedom has not been tempered heavily. The trend is definitely worrisome, so I'm with you greenberetTFS

I suppose if you have years of history and tendencies you are not going to change easily, especially with a radical religion. I am very glad that I am not dealing with radical muslims here in the Balkans. I heard recently from a local that an outsider came to prayer and started trying to provoke anti-Westerners and anti-American thoughts. The Imam cast him out never to return to his mosque.

Somali Islamist hardliners behead 7 "spies"
Fri Jul 10, 2009 11:03am GMT

MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Somalia's hardline Islamist rebels beheaded seven people on Friday for being "Christians" and "spies" in the latest imposition of strict sharia, Islamic law, by the al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab group, witnesses said.

Al Shabaab, which controls large tracts of south Somalia and parts of the capital Mogadishu, has carried out such executions before, but the beheadings on Friday were believed to be the largest number of killings at one time, Somalis say.

"Al Shabaab told us that they were beheaded for reasons they described as being Christian followers and spies," said one relative, who gave his name only as Aden, after the killings in the south-central town of Baidoa...

The headline suggests the seven were killed for apostasy. No more information about the religious motivation for the killings is given in the story.

Islamist insurgents behead 7 Somalis for 'spying on government and abandoning Islam'
Islamist fighters beheaded seven Somalis accused of renouncing their Muslim faith and spying for the government.

Published: 12:03AM BST 11 Jul 2009

The public killings in the southwestern town of Baidoa followed weeks of fierce fighting as the Islamists try to seize Somalia's capital, Mogadishu.

The beheadings were the largest mass execution since the Islamists were pushed from power two and a half years ago, but they follow many individual executions, amputations and stonings...

It's all about power and advantage - always has been and always will be - no matter how the philosophical package is wrapped and marketed for selling to the public. :(
