My hats off to the team that was conducting a static display in DC today.
Meet the TS , TL, the 18A, and the teams 18E. They had it under control.

Took some time out with my family to talk a little shop with them and got a good look at some new gear, yep all of that lightweight stuff is still on the teams. :lifter

I have been out since 04, and just hanging there for a short, really cause me to think about when I was in. Yep I ant' that old, but I am not in the fight ether .

I kinda miss it....

Keep up the fight... Nice meeting your guys today... really you do have more firepower in your hand mic then your bravo can carry.. :D

BTW..The protesters only sang a few tunes, man did they suck at it..

One of my teammates is part of the static display there. Their next stop is Las Vegas. I guess all details aren't created equal. :)

Glad to hear they are doing a good job.

Fandango is by far the BEST instructional video on how to reach terminal velocity.........:D

Those lucky stiffs! Hats off to them. The furthest we ever went for a mod demo was Range 37.

what's a demo? ;)

While on an un-named Halo team we were told we'd be doing a "demo" somewhere because the GK's were busy and some general wanted to see a military freefall team. (Not even the Team Sergeant was happy with this tasking) I told my Team Sergeant that we did the jump that I was going for the refreshment stand and would take it "out" in a blaze of glory!!!;)
We never did the mission.....

Another time we were "asked" to be a part of an Army recruiting commerical, they wanted to film a HALO drop! Not a problem, sure we'd do it, until we found out they wanted us to jump from the tailgate of a "parked" C-141 onto a mattress....... we "passed" on that detail.

Some guys get the good demos!

HAHA! That was a good call to pass on that one TS. The guy that did that one is a good friend of mine. He said it was terrible...filmed exiting onto a mattress hundreds of times before they got it right. He is still serving. I seem to recall someone saying he made CWO5 recently.

LOL, I'm glad that "our" Team Sergeant had more "pull" then their Team Sergeant!!!;)

Yeah that was some guys from my team as well as a few borrowed from certain specialty teams. It sounds like they had a great time. They just left for Vegas...poor fellas.

At least they will be welcomed by past and present Special Forces soldiers, the Special Forces Association is currently in Vegas!;)

THE team from the 1st SFG out of FT. Lewis WA. did a tremendous job of setting up the displays and explaining the the new equipment time after time. It made me feel proud that the current QP's are more intelligent and better prepared than the former SF soldiers such as me who are old enough to be there grandfather. At the present time Iam in El Paso TX. attending the 1st SFG reunion, There is a lot of history here, guys who were there when the 1st SFG started and others who put the 1st Group on the map QP's like Ike Camacho, Jake Jackobson, Ron Wingo, and Lowell Stevens. This is a great event that should not be missed by anyone whoever served in the 1st SFG. Regard',s tom kelly

There are always new and exciting ways to get that "Perfect" shot....I recall while out in Yuma they were filming a new refresher video. The canopy control portion was problematic. At one point we had a weight bench in the back of a pickup truck (Big-Red) a harness and canopy attached. The truck drove down the runway while a camera shot up-angle a the "jumper"....We had control lines (heavy duty monofilament) tied to broomsticks and attached to the outside cells to try to keep the canopy open while running alongside the truck.

That was a hoot....a lot of things went wrong...

Sounds as if I was lucky to have never gotten beyond the Gabriel area or Mott Lake for any demos. ;)
