On or about April 22, American patriot and former Presidential candidate H. Ross Perot is climbing on his private jet in Texas, swinging by DC, and picking up former William Yarborough aide and the general’s longtime confidante Rudi Gresham, and heading to Fort Bragg to the SF Command Symposium being held on April 22. Ross Perot will not only be honored that day by the current men of Special Forces, but he will reveal that he has commissioned Oklahoma artist/sculptor Paul Moore to make a life-sized statue of the famous October, 1961 photograph of President John F. Kennedy meeting with LTG William Yarborough.
In the meeting, JFK asked the General if he liked the funny green hat that he and his men of Special Forces were wearing. Yarborough proudly insisted that his men were a distinctive group of men needing a distinctive type of headgear. The President agreed wholeheartedly and JFK proclaimed the Green Beret as the “official headgear for the men of Special Forces.” In the manner of John Wayne many years ago, H. Ross Perot is paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to capture that historic moment and have the statue made to honor the men of Special Forces. It will be displayed at Fort Bragg when completed, and President Barrack Obama will be invited to the unveiling.

Didn't want to start rumors but I was told by a good source that the CofS at USASOC had confirmed it. Guess we'll see in two weeks.
I work at USASOC and haven't heard about it... will research this next week in the puzzle palace.

From the USASFC CSM........
All,
I understand everyone's excitement in regards to this, but I must pass on that the e-mail below is not correct. This has not gone past the idea stage and this proposal has not been agreed to by the myriad of agencies and individuals that would get a hack at making this happen. I ask all of you to help get the word out this e-mail is not accurate.

United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School Special Forces Regimental Day to be held April 5
USASOC, 13 mAR 2012
Media representatives are invited to attend the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School Special Forces Regimental Day at 1 p.m., Apr. 5 at the John F. Kennedy Hall on Fort Bragg.
The Special Forces Regimental Day begins in front of Kennedy Hall with the dedication of the Kennedy-Yarborough Statue, which was commissioned and donated by Mr. Ross Perot. In conjunction with the statue dedication, ceremony attendees will honor the 267th Special Forces Qualification Course graduating class.
The SFQC, which is run and managed by the USAJFKSWCS , focuses on core tactical competencies, specialty skills, survival and regional language and culture skills necessary for Soldiers to join one of the Army's active-duty or National Guard Special Forces groups.
Depending on each Soldier's designated specialty, the SFQC may take anywhere from 52 to 92 weeks to complete. These students break into groups in order to become Special Forces detachment commanders, weapons sergeants, engineers, medics or communications specialists.
The SFQC graduation ceremony marks the formal induction of each Soldier into the Special Forces regiment, where they may first wear the Special Forces tab and Green Beret before their Family members, peers and friends.
Ross Perot, a life-long special operations supporter and honorary member of the Special Forces Regiment will be the guest speaker at the ceremony.
The statue commemorates President John F. Kennedy’s designation of the Green Beret as the official headgear for all Special Forces Soldiers to Brig. Gen. William P. Yarborough, then commanding general of the U.S. Army Special Warfare Center.
Interviews with Perot and/or the Maj. Gen. Bennet Sacolick, USAJFKSWCS commanding general, are available by request.
Media interested in covering this event should contact the SWCS public affairs office at (910) 396-9394, or e-mail pao_swcs@soc.mil.

Before I left SWC to come over here we were working the initial planning on this event in the CDID. Best advice I could give is book hotels early, get to Bragg early, park elsewhere and walk (BTW, if you haven't been there lately, the minimall parking lot gets filled up fast by students)...get there early. I won't be able to attend.
Thanks for the post.
Yes as 1srndoor... book hotel this we, even with all them here. SFQC sucks up all the newer ones.

Most of our group will be staying with Friends there and the others have made arrangements. Anyone know what "Banquet" the Q-Grads will have to attend?? We're putting together a BBQ/Beer evening and do not want the "Mandatory" competition to interfere!!
Any advice would be appreciated!!

Richard,
Thanks for the pic of the sculpture, from that point of view it really looks right.
(and that can be rare in that kind of work)
