I have my hands on one of these and have to say it's ingenious. It's a brainchild of one of our own and a member of this board. Maybe he'll come out of the shadows......works on a bolt like a charm....no more dental picks etc.

If either of you are willing to PM me the contact info for the individual responsible for this tool I can think of a soon to be deployed ODA that could use 12 of these and since he won't know me from a hole in the ground I don't know how far I would get setting that up.

If not, that's ok too.

Thanks in advance.

OH YEAH!
I got one of the first one's in FBNC! And I have seen it used on what was suppose to be a "CLEAN BOLT and BOLT CARRIER"......the guy swore up and down it was clean.... lo and behold, a couple twists later and there was so much carbon on that pretty bleach-white cloth!

This TOOL ROCKS! :lifter

No freebies just trying to give some advanced warning prior to depleting the entire inventory;)

Love the product demo, especially that the demonstrator has a para-cord bracelet and a Rolex.

Got my tool a few weeks ago (FAST service - Thanks!) and finally got my ARs dirty enuff to try it.

The bolt tail cleaning part and the firing pin part work as advertised - there will be a tiny bit of carbon left, but it will come off easy 'cuz all the rest will be gone.

The other end (for cleaning out the bolt carrier) works well also, but took some experimenting. I found that using a 2.25" square patch and then flipping one side over the end (sorta like using it as a jag) worked the best - using a bigger patch just made more work, and using it strictly as a jag (not using the slot) tended to chew up the patches badly.

I'll say this, I've never gotten the BCG as clean as fast I did with this tool - it encourages thorough cleaning by making it easy to put effort into the nasty spots. I've spent lifetimes swizzling a folded patch around inside a bolt carrier with a brass scraper, and it's mighty frustrating - the M-4 tool just plain works.

Thank You, Sir!

Just sent two over to my son in the box. Ordering was a snap and both were delivered within days.

Full disclosure - Tried it out on several of the high use M-4's being used in a tac class - found the CAT M-4 tool worked exactly as advertized, and is a handy bit of kit.

Thanks H !

I ordered two of these and got them sent over here to Iraq, and I only have two questions:

How do these not have an NSN yet, and why aren't they sold in the PX? These things, for a little less money, would sell like HOTCAKES. Awesome tool.

That said, $35 bucks a pop is pretty steep. I tied mine off, because I'm pretty sure my Team Sergeant is going to try and steal it.

HMass18Z -

Can probably help make some pretty serious inroads into civilian / LE sales if you are interested. No strings attached.

Ive been using a simple scraper tool from Brownells to clean inside the bolt carrier that works ok.

But this tool looks amazing....

It doesn't address many of the places the CAT tool cleans. Plus the CAT tool works really well, and it's made by one of our own. - Got mine last week.

HM - great tool. hope you shut down botach pronto.

by the way, something i discovered when using the catm4 (and HM posted this on the catm4 website as well) - not all bolt tails have the same contour and some may not make full contact with the scraping edges on the tool. i found that you can use the OUTSIDE of the tool to scrape the tail as well, and by applying pressure a bit more here or there, will take care of those dimensional differences between bolts. there's a pic in my writeup:
