As HHC CDR, I spent many an hour in this building reviewing UCMJ cases for the Battalion. Schade. :(

And as far as arsonist's go, this one was not too bright.

Fire at Fort Benning landmark shakes military post
Walter Putnam, AP, 13 Mar 2009

Shawana T. Pierce, a former civilian employee at the JAG office and 30-year-old mother of two, was dismissed from her job after being suspected of stealing office supplies. She is now charged with burning down the historic Judge Advocate General building, where Lt. William Calley once faced his court-martial in the My Lai massacre.

Hardly the first. The JAG Office at Ft. Campbell, KY (Building T-16) was burned in 1986 by a soldier who thought -- wrongly -- that he could escape trial by courts-martial. Somewhere around here I have photos of my office, with the copy machine and telephones looking like Salvador Dali prints.

Maybe someone just moved her desk and took her stapler - so she burned the place down! :D
