Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban
The Ban Expired in 2004 During the Bush Administration.
By JASON RYAN
WASHINGTON, Feb. 25, 2009

The Obama administration will seek to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 during the Bush administration, Attorney General Eric Holder said today.

"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder told reporters.

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

"I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum." Holder said at a news conference on the arrest of more than 700 people in a drug enforcement crackdown on Mexican drug cartels operating in the U.S.

So, let me get this straight. We are going to ban "assault weapons" to keep Mexico safe???? Thanks, Obama. Remember, this is the guy that said "we aren't going after your guns". As my father likes to say, "Lying sack of s**t".

No, not a state, just part of a 'murky union'.
We're getting a pretty good deal on illegal immigrants and we don't want to mess that up!

My understanding is that the “blue dog” democrats will not let it come to the floor, in either the house or the senate.
Maybe Rahm Emanuel got more than he bargained for, when he recruited the “conservative democrats” to run and defeat limp wrested RINO’s :boohoo

But aren't the blue dog democrats supposed to be fiscally conservative....yet every porkulous bill is passing without a fight....forgive me if I'm not convinced, but I think the one and his minions have a plan, and that plan does not include an armed populous IMO.

It is like the quiet before the storm around here.

This should come as no surprise.
They been cooking all this for a long time.

The damage these pricks will wreak on America during their tenure
is unprecidented.

It will be legal, too.

If anyone knows a place in Fayetteville with stripped AR lowers please PM me. I told the wife when O got voted in the popularity contest that I would hold off building until he made his first comment on the AWB. Man, that was a long wait...

My wife and I made this file shortly after November 4th, and it's strange to see all our predictions coming true.

Nancy says to enforce the laws we have on the books

Gee, where have I heard that before.

When Nancy says No - it just means not right now.

At first I was surprised by her answer being she is a dumb as a box of rocks and from California, but after giving it a little thought it looks to me like no one talked to useless Nancy P about the ban so she's throwing a little tantrum and saying no soup for you to the one, unfortunately I predict he'll talk nice nice to her and smooth her ruffled feathers and that POS will jump on board. I really hope I’m wrong on this one, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

I concur. She will be on board in a few months (if not weeks) with their agenda.

...not until the POTUS gets his second term.
Thats when I expect all the REALLY bizarre shot to happen. The POTUS will use most of his first term as a free campaign for his second term...
...and then the real party will start.
What are ya gonna do then? Vote him out?
Whats going on now is nothing comapared to what is coming in 2013.

Vote early, vote often.

Billy I agree with you, if the one gets a second term, and I don't think that's a foregone conclusion at this point, but if he does the damage may be irreparable. The only hope we'll have is to not have a Dim controlled congress/senate.

I expect the first term to be used to tax and register the second ammendment as a "recon by fire" so that the REAL crisis management can be done during the second coming of BOPOTUS.

...and based on the current political climate, sadly if I was changing money with a bookie in vegas, my money would be on BOTPOTUS with a 25 electoral-vote 'point spread'.

By the time the 2012 election gets here the "big state" voters will be so fat from government handouts that anyone speaking on a platform of hard work and responsibility will sound like they are speaking ancient aramaic. The people who would normally pay into the campaign funds of a replacement will be so broke from corporate taxes that the only two companies doing well enough to give campaign donations will be star-kist tuna and Heinz ketchup.

just my two cents... I could be wrong

I have read a number of articles suggesting their ammo control bill will be pushed through first. This will hurt the worst if they try to federally regulate ammo. It will sky rocket the price of ammo. Start the "Training Exercises" for proper cashe of ammo.

like I said... use the economic "crisis" to tax guns and ammo until the prices become so restrictive that you have to choose between food or hand-gaurds, a power bill or a lower reciever.

I hate to sound like a broken record but the most despicable thing I have ever in my adult life heard from a political figure was when Rahm Emanual said "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste"

tin fpoil hat jokes aside that has to be the most telling statement of hidden intention ever to escape the lips of a public figure.

...out of context? I think not, since he followed it up by saying "and what I mean by that is its an oppurtunity to do things you could not do before"

...but its not fear mongering.
Totally not fear mongering... nothing but good intentions afoot.

tin foil hat my ass....
hidden agenda - nothing more nothing less

Got two interesting forwards from friends yesterday. Certainly makes "food for thought". Here's one:

Maybe the Dims (at least those most vulnerable in 2010) remember 1994 too. Not something to pin our hopes on but certainly worth watching. :munchin

Damn! When Assault weapons are banned only assaulter will have them. . . wait that didin't come out right.
When assault weapons are banned, the L-shaped ambush will be banned from hunting . . . that doesn't sound quite right either.
