View Full Version : LASER counter battery
This is great if true. My question is how would it work against multiple targets such as a battery firing for effect?

It's true.
I'm fairly certain this system is still in the research phase.
Just think what it could do to low flying jets.......;)
ADA is about to get some new chapters added.
Sir, it appears that Northrup is involved in development of the weapon.

The SPIE technical paper indicates the device is a chemical laser; the process is described in detail, along with some plans for the future. I get the impression it could engage multiple targets effectively. The program fact sheet states: "Field testing will include single and multiple rocket engagement scenarios."
In addition, the technical report states: "Attack scenarios specified included both single and multiple rocket launches out of an extended threat zone. These scenarios were replicated at the US Army’s White Sands Missile Range and THEL ACTD has successfully engaged and destroyed both single and multiple rockets launched in these scenarios."
A further quote: "Many additional rocket intercepts have occurred since then, both against single rockets and against salvos of multiple rockets."
Reality continues to overtake science fiction...
