Did anyone reading this go through SFQC 4/84 back in '84?

I did and I will never forget how hot and humid it was that Summer. I think that I lost about 10 pounds just from sweating alone. For anyone who wants to loose weight I would recomend that they put on a 75 pound rucksack and then go for a long walk through the tobacco fields of North Carolina in the middle of July.

Back to the story.

We had a handful of foreign officers attending and there is one in particular that I always remember. He was a tall young Lieutenant from Kuwait and wore these strange looking yellow and green fatigues. He didn't speak very good English and had long curly black hair.

Anyway, during the land navigation portion of Phase I he got lost and ended up traveling a long way from his intended objective. I was told that with rucksack and M-16 in hand he walked up to the entrance of a local correctional facility and tried to communicate with the guards. I guess they panicked and called the Sheriff, the FBI and the Post Headquarters. Someone from the Cadre eventually picked him up and he was back with us later that evening.

Now, as bad as that was could you imagine something like that happening in post 9/11 America? True story.
