Can we track them down, and punch them in the throat?

How about a complaint to Yahoo for a violation of their TOS?

Generally, if one looks at the headers in an e-mail, the IP address of the originating machine is included. That should indicate the ISP for the user, as well as the city.

Here's a sample of the headers you want:

Notice the orange line; the 147.178.1.154 is the IP address.

Next go to http://samspade.org/. Put the IP address in the Whois box, and you will see contact information for the ISP. Please feel free to use the example; it is Iomega, the hard drive maker.

My apologies if this is superfluous info.

But, she said I could earn millions helping her smuggle the family fortune out of country!

All she needed was my bank account number and a major credit card.

Damn! Another fortune lost.

Anyone got a really nasty virus to send back?

I worked with an officer who met this attractive woman through a dating website. Turns out she was working with a an organization in Nigeria and had her money stolen. She needed $4,000 to pay some medical bills and get back to the United States.

The officer was insistant that he should send his money to her. We convinced him otherwise.

Also: This officer is no longer with us. Not surprising considering his decision making ability.

Darn it! I didn't get the message... and I really wanted to give all my personal financial information to a complete stranger over the internet too.

I can't believe that people actually fall for those emails... but they do. There was an entire special on 60 Minutes or Dateline (or the like) a while back about how these operations work and people who had been suckered by them. YET even with all the publicity about what a hoax these emails are, people still buy into them.

Fortunately a day late did not equate to a dollar short.

Sorry, couldn't resist... :D
